POSITRACTION: Laundromat Owner really helps the homeless

2016-Apr-24

Laundromat Owner Washes Thousands of Pounds of Laundry for Homeless for Free
by Terry Turner - Apr 5, 2016

*** begin quote ***

A laundromat owner spent every night for a week washing 1,000 pounds of homeless people’s laundry. His generosity saved 75 families roughly $5,000.

As a former social worker, Samuel Van De Cruze already knew about many of the challenges the homeless face. He also realized his new business could offer immediate help for a mundane chore that took time and money away from those who didn’t have much of either.

After Van De Cruze opened Mr. Bubbles Laundromat in Queens, New York recently, he saw for himself how homeless families struggled just to pay for their laundry needs.

*** end quote ***

Not everyone can make a huge difference like this person, but we all can do something.

Even if it’s little. Even if it’s at random times. Even if no one else knows.

If I was in Queens, then I’d go by and let him do my laundry and overpay.

JOBIT: Hussey, Raymond Vincent [MC1955 RIP] on 2016-Apr-18

2016-Apr-25

http://www.tributes.com/obituary/read/Raymond-Vincent-Hussey-103510901

Dr. Raymond Vincent Hussey II
May 5, 1934 - April 18, 2016
Riverside, California | Age 81

Raymond Vincent Hussey passed away on April 18, 2016, at almost 82 years of age, in Riverside, California. He was born May 5, 1934 in Newport, RI, to Ray and Eileen Hussey. He was the eldest sibling to the late John (Jack) Hussey, William (Bill) Hussey, and Eileen Ward. Ray's stories about his Newport years involved lifeguarding, shoveling coal, four seasons, snowball fights, boxing and great shenanigans with his brothers and sister.

Through hard work and determination he excelled in school and received a full ride scholarship to Manhattan College and went on to New York Medical College. While in medical school and working in a hospital he met a nurse, Anne, who became his bride and the love of his life. He fulfilled his internship and residency with the US Air Force and started his family in San Antonio, Texas at Lackland Air Force Base. Their first two children Raymond Vincent Hussey III and Annemarie Lee (Hussey) were born in San Antonio. Ray and family transferred to March Air Force Base in 1966 where he moved into private practice with Riverside Radiology Group. In private practice, Dr. Hussey, was instrumental in bringing MRI technology to the radiology practice. He was always learning, and vigilant about continuing his education and knowledge.

Their third child, Mark William Hussey, was born in 1967. He established his roots in Riverside, "the happy side". Family activities included sports, vacations, and volunteering. He had a passion for family, work, handball, backpacking, music and woodworking. He retired in the late 90s and filled his time with helping family and friends with "projects". Habitat for Humanity became the recipient of his many skills. Known as the ultimate handyman, he was always willing to share his expertise with family, friends, and neighbors. In fact, he could think of project whether it was needed or not, especially if it involved another run to the Home Depot.

He shared his love for the outdoors with his family and friends. The annual summer backpacking trip was always the highlight of the summer. This passion led to his involvement with the Riverside Mountain Rescue Unit, which he loved for over 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Mark, and his younger brother, Jack. He is survived by his wife, Anne; son, Ray (Denise); daughter, Annemarie (Ed); brother, Bill (Jan); sister, Eileen (Tony); his cherished grandchildren Nichole, Nathan, Noah, Vincent, Christopher, Matthew, and Alexis; 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on April 30, 2016, at St. Andrew's Newman Center, 105 W. Big Springs Road at 2:30. A 4:00 reception will follow immediately at the Comer residence, 7515 Victoria Avenue (Victoria at Madison). Donations in Ray's name can be made to either: Riverside Mountain Rescue Unit, 43950 Acacia Avenue, Hemet, CA, 92544, www.rmru.org; or Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC, 20090-6011.

ENDNOTE: Separation of the Gooferment from Healthcare among other things

2016-Apr-30

http://www.beaufortobserver.net/Articles-NEWS-and-COMMENTARY-c-2016-04-17-282367.112112-Why-the-Government-should-not-control-HealthCare.html

From The Right
Why the Government should not control HealthCare
Moore, William 'Bill' [MC1977]
April 18, 2016

*** begin quote ***

This election becomes even important as realistically our last chance to stop government intrusion into our healthcare. It will also be our last chance to ensure we continue to have the best healthcare available to who needs it. Remember the Left has stated it is necessary for the young to pay significantly more and our old to be denied certain treatments as being too costly. They lied and promised TORT Reform to cut down on the costs of medical insurance due to frivolous lawsuits. Nothing has been done. Why should you expect them to tell the truth when they promise low and better coverage healthcare.

Only the Government would insist people who cannot afford to buy healthcare pay a heavy fine for not buying what they cannot afford. Rates up there with ‘You have to pass it to see what's in it " or "You can keep your doctor or health plan if you want to".

We need to elect people who will force the Government to get out of the healthcare business except for the few regulations necessary to protect consumers. Vote Smaller Government

VOTE

*** end quote ***

I, often, quote: “If voting made any difference they wouldn't let us do it.” ― Mark Twain

We have many negative exemplars of Gooferment “healthcare”. The VA, the Indian Healthcare System, Medicare, Medicaid, Canada, England, etc etc etc.

We even have a few excellent examples of totally free healthcare in the various form of “medical tourism”. Canadians coming over the border to the USA for MRIs that take months of waiting under the Canadian Gooferment to the point of causing deaths. (I first became aware of it when going to Niagara Falls and seeing signs for 100U$D MRIs available from 1 to 4 AM.) There are countless stories of people going to India, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Thailand for surgeries that cost several hundred thousand in the USA being done cheaply by Board Certified Doctors in what is described as “resort hotel settings”. Even including the cost of travel.

I don’t have an answer HOW we move back to liberty and the free market. But then I’m old and set in my ways. I fear that the young have been trained by Gooferment Skrules to only see Gooferment as the solution.

Perhaps it’s in the “little things” that we can strike back. The way “We, The Sheeple” treat “Speed Limits”. OR taxes, avoid evade under-the-table barter.

In healthcare, some doctors are going cash only concierge medicine. If I could find one, I’d try it.

“If you love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”  ― Samuel Adams
