Iowa State football players credited with saving woman's life while on spring break
Published April 02, 2016  FoxNews.com

*** begin quote ***

Iowa State current and former football players are being credited with saving a woman’s life last month after her car plunged into a canal during spring break on South Padre Island in Texas last month.

*** end quote ***

"Whoever destroys a soul, it is considered as if he destroyed an entire world. And whoever saves a life, it is considered as if he saved an entire world.” — Talmud

“If you save a life, you are responsible for that life forever.” — A Chinese proverb

Not sure which it is,

But these men, clearly risking their own lives, are “life savers”.

It’s a big deal and I hope we all can get the chance to be “heroic”.

John, Re: Buster Keyes decision to join the Army instead of graduating from Manhattan, I would say that after 38 years in the Army serving his country and his continued service in helping his military brothers and sisters that he made choices in life that are second to none.

[JR: That’s interesting speculation, but we will never know what was possible? As equally as possible that he finishes Manhattan, goes to medical school, selects to research cancer or athletes foot, and finds a cure. IMHO that is the hard part of “human action”, we can never rewind the clock, try something else, and see the results. Heck, the first day of his second year, he might have gotten hit with the proverbial Mack truck. It confounds the human experience because we just don’t know. That’s why “The broken window fallacy” — Frédéric Bastiat Ce u’on void et ce u’on ne void pas (That Which Is Seen and That Which Is Unseen) 1850 —  is so insightful in Economics. We don’t see the unseen effects. So to, we can’t see the unseen possibilities. All we can say was “he did good” and wonder what might have been.]

I have received an E-Mail from Amy, Don Wszolek’s wife. Since early April he has been fighting an extremely aggressive form of leukemia. Things do not look good. He is currently in the CCU at Hackensack Hospital with multiple organ failure. He is on a ventilator.  There is not much I can say about this. We have kept in touch over the years and he has been a boon companion on a few adventures. I hope and pray that he will beat this.  Steve

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Colon, Philip J. (MC1962) prays for Jeanne

2016-Apr-23

Good Afternoon All,

Our Prayers are needed for Jeanne. Tom McCarthy shared the following regarding Jeanne. John and Jeanne returned from Florida on Thursday.

"Unfortunately Jeanne ended up in the hospital yesterday after having some respiratory problems, trouble breathing, and other issues (she has pulmonary hypertension, but blood levels were low so possibly anemia, possibly internal bleeding) and they're planning to keep her at least overnight again and likely a few more days.

They only got back from FL late Thursday night and they were at the hospital (Mercy) by noon Friday. They're exhausted and still reeling from the travel up from FL but Jeanne's in good spirits and was making it clear to hospital staff that she's in charge.

So keep them in your prayers. John said he'd get back with an update soon, as he would be spending the afternoon/evening with her."

Tom

Thomas A. McCarthy

Please keep Jeanne in your prayers and keep the volume up as we pray that the MDs are quickly able to find the problem and resolve it quickly. Please keep Jeanne and John in your prayers. Thank you. God Bless.

ENDNOTE: The Clinton email probe

2016-Apr-23

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/04/10/exclusive-obama-defends-terror-fight-vows-no-influence-in-clinton-email-probe.html

EXECUTIVE
EXCLUSIVE: Obama vows no influence in Clinton email probe, defends terror fight
Published April 10, 2016  FoxNews.com

*** begin quote ***

President Obama repeatedly vowed there would be no political influence over the Justice Department’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while secretary of state -- in a wide-ranging interview with “Fox News Sunday” in which he also ardently defended his efforts to defeat the Islamic State and other terror groups amid criticism about his perceived indifference.

“I guarantee that there is no political influence in any investigation conducted by the Justice Department, or the FBI, not just in this case, but in any case,” Obama said.” “Nobody is above the law. How many times do I have to say it?”

*** end quote ***

There’s a Jasper connection to all this.

One can only hope that there is extra courage to go around to all involved.

This issue has the possibility fracture the nation into the elite, who don’t have to obey the rules, and the rest of us.

Regardless of politics, there has to be honesty in the “law”.

“No justice; no peace” will be confirmed in the minds of many if this process isn’t honest.
