POSITRACTION: A girl’s inoperable brain tumor has vanished2018-Dec-23https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/from-no-cure-to-no-trace-texas-girl/ From No Cure To No Trace, Texas Girl’s Inoperable Brain Tumor Disappears By Good News Network-Dec 18, 2018 *** begin quote *** A girl’s inoperable brain tumor has vanished—and her doctors have no explanation. In June, Roxli Doss was diagnosed with a rare cancerous tumor known as diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, or DIPG. Dr. Virginia Harrod with Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin, Texas, said the 11-year-old went through weeks of radiation, even though there is no cure. The family and community members prayed for a miracle, and they got it. *** end quote *** A Christmas miracle? The power of prayer? Dumb luck or random chance? Or yet another example of how little we know about the universe we’re part of. To quote A Few Good Men, "I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to." Colonel Jessep in A Few Good Men played by Jack Nicholson In this case, I’ll just say “Thank You” and proceed ahead in my ignorance just putting one foot in front of the other. Appropriate seasonal greeting to all. # - # - # - # - # |

JOBIT: Lussier, Richard Walter [MC1952 RIP] 2018-Dec-242018-Dec-29https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/ brooklyn-ny/richard-lussier-8099719 OBITUARY Richard Lussier September 6, 1927 – December 24, 2018 Richard Walter Lussier Born September 6, 1927, Died December 24, 2018. He will join his wife Mary Alice in heaven. Born in Springfield, MA to parents George and Edna Lussier, he was the oldest of 5 children. He is survived by siblings Rita, Raymond, Connie, and Roger and by 5 sons, Joseph Raymond, Justin Gerard, Vincent John, Paul Bernard, John Guy and 9 grandchildren. Growing up in Springfield, he played hockey (left wing) baseball and basketball. After graduating from Cathedral High School in Springfield, he joined the Army at the end of World War II, and made rank of Buck Sergeant in Korea. After his stint in the Army, he was accepted into Manhattan College and graduated as an Electrical Engineer. Following graduation he obtained his Professional Engineers License. His first job was at Otis Elevator, and then at Grumman Aerospace where he worked on the power supply for the Lunar Excursion Module. It was about this time that he met and married Mary Alice Grimes on April 4th,1959. In the early 1970’s he began to work for the New York Telephone Company where he worked until he retired. Sadly, Mary died in 1982 from complications from Leukemia. A devout Catholic, Richard attended Daily Mass at Holy Name of Jesus up until a year ago, but still went to Sunday Mass. He never remarried. Always proud of his roots in Saint-Sébastien Quebec, he was a lover of the French language. In the last month of his life he was severely disabled by a stroke which affected his left side and speech. When asked “Comment ca va?” He would respond “Ca va” from his bed in the ICU. Rich will be remembered by all as being a hard worker, smart, diligent, faithful, frugal, a family man, and always positive. Even after Chemo and Radiation for rectal cancer in 2013, then having surgery in 2016 for intestinal cancer, and most recently in November, surgery for bladder cancer, he still remained positive. As Rich would say often, “Every day is beautiful” Adieu Rich! #-#-# Lussier, Richard Walter [MC???? ENDNOTE: “Lest We Forget” all the GOVERNACIDE2018-Dec-29A 100-Year-Old Holocaust Survivor on How Books Save Lives “There are times when dreams sustain us more than facts. To read a book and surrender to a story is to keep our very humanity alive.” BY MARIA POPOVA *** begin quote *** It is often said that books save lives. Most of the time, however heartfelt the sentiment, it is figurative. Every once in an improbable while, it approximates the literal. But only on the rarest of occasions, in the most extreme of circumstances, do books become lifelines in the realest sense. One such occasion is immortalized in A Velocity of Being: Letters to a Young Reader (public library) — the collection I spent eight years putting together in the hope of showing young people how essential reading is to an inspired and inspiring life. There are original illustrated letters about the transformative and transcendent power of reading from some immensely inspiring humans — scientists like Jane Goodall and Janna Levin, artists like Marina Abramović and Debbie Millman, musicians like Yo-Yo Ma, Amanda Palmer, and David Byrne, entrepreneurs like Richard Branson and Tim Ferriss, poets like Mary Oliver, Elizabeth Alexander, and Sarah Kay, media pioneers like Kevin Kelly, Jad Abumrad, and Shonda Rhimes, beloved writers of literature for young people like Jacqueline Woodson, Judy Blume, and Neil Gaiman, and a great many celebrated authors of books for so-called grownups. But one of the most powerful letters comes from someone whose name might not, or at least not yet, mean much to many: Helen Fagin. *** end quote *** *** begin quote *** There are times when dreams sustain us more than facts. To read a book and surrender to a story is to keep our very humanity alive. *** end quote *** It’s hard to imagine enduring the Holocaust. Surviving it was a miracle. Every time I read something about it, I say to myself: “Lest We Forget”. A “normal” Christian nation took a wrong turn into madness. We must be aware that it could happen here. The USA has had its “Japanese Internment”, “Segregation”, and the “Trail of Tears”. DNF Waco, Ruby Ridge, and Oklahoma City. We must control the evil Gooferment to prevent these things in the future. # - # - # - # - # |
