POSITRACTION: Groundbreaking Type 1 Diabetes Drug

‘Groundbreaking’ Type 1 Diabetes Drug Has Just Been Trialed on First Human Patients–With No Side Effects
By Good News Network - Sep 12, 2018

*** begin quote ***

A ground-breaking clinical trial of a new investigational drug has been launched to help prevent and manage Type 1 diabetes, and researchers have already dosed the first patient in the world with the treatment.

The drug, which was developed by scientists Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (UHB), aims to help the regrowth of insulin making ‘beta’ cells of the pancreas, which are lost in patients living with the disease. Despite being an early phase trial, the CRF has now dosed two patients with this new drug.

Type 1 diabetes is a serious, lifelong condition where blood glucose levels are too high because the body cannot make a hormone called insulin. Those with Type 1 diabetes are dependent on insulin but if this clinical trial works, the regrowth – or regeneration – of beta cells may mean those with Type 1 diabetes becoming far less dependent on insulin injections. The benefits of the new drug would reduce lifelong conditions and complications associated with the chronic disease.

*** end quote ***

Type 1 killed my wife and her brother.  The pain and suffering over the decades was unbelievable.

I pray that these good folks have the “magic bullit”.  To late in my case, but better for posterity.

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Colon, Philip J. (MC1962) prays for Joseph

2018-Sep-17

Good Afternoon All,

From Jerry Lynch, a good friend to me, Fellow Jasper, past Speaker at our Retreat asks for our prayers for his Twin Brother, Joseph Lynch. The Miracle of unconditional Brotherly love happened when these two Brothers came into this world and that bond has not broken but has grown and deepened. Now Joe is in the final stages of Diabetes, in his case, a pernicious and unrelenting desease that has overcome his organs and refusing to let go. it has been said that Twins can feel each others pain. I have seen that manifested in one or two cases and I can tell you that the pain and loss felt by Jerry is very real and such a tribute to their love and caring for each other. Please raise the volume for Jerry's brother Joe, for Jerry and their Families as they share this last part of Joe's journey. We pray that the sure and certain knowledge that our Lord will Welcome and lovingly Embrace Joe as he is called home, will help lessen the pain of loss and that the realization they will meet again free of desease and sorrow will also lessen the hurt of Loss. Thank you all. God Bless.

2018-Sep-21

Dear John,

Last weekend was the 27th Annual Manhattan College Businessmen’s Reality Retreat held at the Bishop Molloy Retreat House in Jamaica Estates, Queens. It was another success! About 50 men were in attendance and the speakers were very inspiring. Each attendee was presented with a copy of The Catholic Prayer Bible (Lecito Divina Edition) by Sister Joan Curtin, the Sunday Morning speaker.

Plans are already under way for next year’s Retreat which will be held on September 13, 14, & 15th 2019.

Best,

Mike

ENDNOTE: A "catholic" politician's ethics?

2018-Sep-22

https://nypost.com/2018/09/19/come-clean-and-apologize-gov-cuomo/

EDITORIAL
Come clean and apologize, Gov. Cuomo
By Post Editorial Board
September 19, 2018 | 7:41pm | Updated

*** begin quote ***

Was there anyone involved with Gov. Cuomo’s re-election campaign or his office who didn’t know about that infamous mailer tarring Cynthia Nixon as anti-Semitic?

The Post keeps uncovering ever more evidence showing the gov’s team played a major role in crafting and OKing the hit piece, which Cuomo himself calls “slimy.” His excuses and denials just don’t hold up.

The Post’s Nolan Hicks and Carl Campanile cite documents and interviews showing that Adam Steinberger, a top aide to Cuomo’s campaign manager, Maggie Moran, was heavily involved in the mailer’s creation. Moran and an executive aide to the governor, Jill DesRosiers, were also copied on at least one early e-mail discussing a mailer. (Abbey Collins of the campaign insists neither woman saw any of the radioactive stuff.) Former Cuomo aide David Lobl ginned up talking points used to create the mailer.

*** end quote ***

If the “Catholic” hierarchy will not rebuke a “Catholic politician” for his stand on “women’s reproductive rights”, then where is the “Catholic” laity to do their job for them?

Hard to believe that a politician could survive losing both the Catholic and Jewish vote.

Time for voters to punish bad conduct!
