Workers Buy Toy Panda For Little Boy After Seeing Pleading Note Scribbled on Box
by McKinley Corbley - Jun 29, 2017

*** begin quote ***

This little boy couldn’t bear to part with a toy panda that he saw in a store – but thanks to the kindhearted employees, they weren’t separated for very long.

10-year-old Leon Ashworth and his mother Debbie were browsing the shelves of the Asda supermarket in Liverpool when Leon first spotted “Pandy”: a fuzzy little stuffed panda bear that cost less than $10.

Debbie, who works as an intensive care nurse, reluctantly told Leon that she couldn’t afford to buy him the panda until she received her paycheck the next week.

“I’m always in the store and a week ago I came in to pick up some essentials. Leon spotted this panda – he just seemed drawn to it and said ‘mummy can I please have this panda?’” said Debbie. “I explained to him that I didn’t have enough money – it was just before payday, you know what it’s like. So I told him we would come back next week after I’d been paid and get it as long as he was a good boy.”

Heartbroken, Leon then placed Pandy in a cardboard box and scribbled a note on the front in pencil.

“He then put the panda in the box and put it back on the shelf,” explained the mother. “I didn’t actually see what he’d written at that time. I didn’t think much more about it and I just thought someone would take it out of the box and put it back on sale.”

The note read: “My mum didn’t have enough money to buy me Pandy so she’s buying me Pandy on 15th June so please don’t buy him as it will make me cry. Thank you so much from Hopeful Future Owner.”

Later that day, the store’s section leader David Bateman saw the note – and he was moved to take action, along with the rest of the employees.

*** end quote ***

You just have to have empathy. Is it a big “save”? No. But not everything has to be “monumental”. Just make the world a kinder and gentler place.

Hopefully, we can all do more and better things, but, in this case, a $10 “pandy” was enough to make a little boy happy.

It did me too.

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Colon, Philip J. (MC1962) prays for three

2017-Jul-12

Good Morning All,

A couple of prayer requests.

Our prayers are requested for Sue Mc, a friend and neighbor of Clare, of Mike McEneney's Daughter Clare. Sue is suffering from a heart condition that the Doctors have been, so far, unable to correct. We pray for The healing hand of God to guide the Doctors to solve the problem and restore Sue to recovery and health. We pray for Sue and her Family. Thank you Mike.

I ask for your prayers for two young women that I know that are experiencing major change in their lives. One is in New York and the other is in Colorado. They are young women that I know, respect and care about. One is interviewing for a Charge Nurse position that would of course mean a great deal to her. She gets very nervous in an interview and begins to doubt herself irrespective of the success she has had and the knowledge and strength that she brings to the table. We pray that she realizes her worth and with renewed confidence convinces Hospital Administration that she is the right Candidate. She is a capable and caring professional.

The other, a very bright, hardworking, caring and knowledgeable professional that has been respected and appreciated in the work that she has done in the past. Some setbacks in her life have left her, as well, doubting herself and floundering. Her Family, who care for her and love her deeply, support her efforts as she struggles to get her life back on track. This young women brings so much caring, love and strength to what she does but she too has experienced a loss of confidence over the past several months. If you knew this young women, you, as I do, would see how special she is. We pray that the steps she has been taking open her mind and heart to her worth and rekindle her confidence, strengthen her resolve and trust in God as she moves ahead with her life.

Thank you. God Bless.

JOBIT: Crawford, John P. [MC1955 RIP] on 2017-Jul-10

2017-Jul-13

Good Evening All,

For the past few days we have had John Crawford '55 in our prayers. John was the Grand Uncle of Fellow Jasper, Nancy Maksomski. John suffered a massive heart attack and stroke and was not expected to survive through the weekend but was on life support in the hope that all his Children would make it up to Buffalo. He was called home on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 surrounded by his Family. We pray for John, his Wife Emily, their Children, John, Stephen, Peter, Karen, Kathleen, Christopher and the Family as the Family mourn their loss. Nancy Maksomski shared the following Link for John's Obituary. The wonderful picture of John shown in the Obituary with such an open and jolly smile speaks volumes of the good man he was. He will be missed by many. Thank you. God Bless.

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Colon, Philip J. (MC1962) prays for Ed

2017-Jul-15

Good Evening All,

Mike McEneney has told me that Ed McEneney is out of ICU and into a private room. Ed is feeling better but not up to talking much or visitors. The MDs have not diagnosed Ed's symptoms as of yet so they are unable to determine the cause. Please keep the volume up for Ed as we continue to pray for him and for the MDs to diagnose the problem and have Ed back on hIs feet and home. Ed thanks you for your prayers and good wishes. Thank you Mike. Thank you all. God Bless.

Public Schools: One Of The Government’s Biggest Failures? Or Successes?
July 3, 2017 | Dawn Luger | The Daily Sheeple

*** begin quote ***

Baltimore is proving just how ineffective the government is at educating the nation’s children. Almost as if it was their goal, the city has six schools that failed to produce one child proficient in either English or math.

*** and ***

“It isn’t a coincidence that governments everywhere want to educate children. Government education, in turn, is supposed to be evidence of the state’s goodness and its concern for our well-being. The real explanation is less flattering. If the government’s propaganda can take root as children grow up, those kids will be no threat to the state apparatus. They’ll fasten the chains to their own ankles.” — Lew Rockwell

*** end quote ***

Wow, that’s a stunning “achievement” — what’s the word for such a negative “achievement” — words fail me.

How can these children reach their God-given potential to have a decent life? It’ll be a miracle.

Where’s Baltimore’s “Hymie Escalante”, “Ron Clark”, “Erin Gruwell”, or “Frank Napier” & “Joe Clark”?

It’s a national disgrace.

Those parents should have their pitchforks and torches out for the politicians and bureaucrats.

At the very least, they should home school. How much worse could they do?

Argh!
