These four teens were just looking to shovel some driveways in exchange for pocket money – but while they were going door to door, they found something much more important.
Coby, Rebecca, Marcello, and Jerry were for shoveling snow throughout their neighborhood in LaSalle, Colorado. When they knocked on one door in particular, however, they heard shouts for help.
An old man had apparently fallen to the ground in pain a few days previously and was unable to get up.
“You could clearly see he was in pain,” Zach Hill of the LaSalle Fire Department told NBC. “This gentleman had been there for, we’re not sure how long, and we don’t know how long he would’ve been there had they not knocked on the door so they had a huge part in getting him help.”

I’m lucky. I have two “stalkers” — a fiancé and an niece-in-law — who keep track of me.
What about all the “old folks” who aren’t so lucky?
It would seem that good Christians would at least look out for the neighbors?

Production is underway for Manhattan College’s first women’s lifestyle magazine. Masthead positions have been assigned for the Lotus Magazine 2017 editorial board.
The board is a series of leadership positions that oversee the production of the magazine, and consists of a managing editor, two executive editors, four section editors, a photography director, an art director and a technology director.
All positions will be presided over by Melissa Gallardo and Olivia Paladino, the magazine’s Editors-in-Chief.
“We manage our staff of editors, writers, photographers and models in production of a once-a-semester women’s empowerment magazine,” said Gallardo of her and Paladino’s position. “We organize our weekly meetings with our staff and editorial board and oversee production and layout of the soon-to-be online magazine.”

The other section, Changing Outlooks, will focus mainly on women’s issues and health and will be supervised by junior Grace Ostolozaga.

Manhattan head coach Steve Masiello saw his team’s 81–68 home loss to Siena as indicative of what’s the matter with society as a whole.
After a reporter asked Masiello in his postgame press conference how his team can adjust to playing from behind, the coach launched into a rant about our “fraudulent society.”
“We’re a fraudulent society from top to bottom,” Masiello said. “Our society’s fraudulent. Everything about our society is edited. Everything about our society is prearranged, so this generation is a fraudulent generation. And what I mean by that is they put their Instagram picture the way they want. They put their tweet out the way they want. Nothing is interactive. Nothing is real. So when things don't go the way people want them to, people really struggle with—if it's not 75 degrees and sunny and the stars aren't aligned, if it's not exactly 4 p.m., they didn't get exactly eight hours of beauty sleep and the pasta... young people today struggle with it. Our society struggles with that, and for me—I can't speak for other coaches—I see it more than ever. When adversity comes in, people struggle. They’re not bad kids. This might be one of my favorite groups I’ve ever had. They struggle with adversity. They struggle with--that's a byproduct of our society today, so I think we're a reflection of our culture a little bit, not to get too deep.”
Masiello led the Jaspers to two straight NCAA tournament appearances in 2014 and 2015. After the 2014 season, he was offered the head coaching position at South Florida but the offer was scuttled after the school learned Masiello had not graduated from the University of Kentucky, as his resume had claimed.
The Jaspers are 7–14 this season and last in the MAAC with a 2–8 in-conference record.

Salvatore Tenaglia, 66, of Fort Myers FL, died January 17, 2016. Sal is survived by his loving wife, Regina.
Born in Staten Island, NY, he was the son of Rocco and Jean (nee Pifalo) Tenaglia. He graduated from Manhattan College New York. Sal was an intelligent and community minded businessman. He was a major influence in the redevelopment of 5th Avenue downtown Naples. Sal owned and operated Reginas Ice Cream Pavilion on 5th Avenue South for 29 years.
He will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, January 29th, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Fuller Funeral Home, 4735 Tamiami Trail East. From Mike McEneney, we have a couple of urgent prayer requests.
First, we pray for another of God's precious gifts. Gavin, 7 years old and has been fighting Leukemia. A few days ago, Gavin suffered a stroke and is in Pediatric ICU. H e seemed to be winning the battle. This little fellow is a fighter similar to others we know and pray for. Gavin was recently pictured receiving a Football from Eli Manning. Pretty special that for this aspiring Quarterback. Please raise the volume for Gavin and his Family as we pray that the MDs can get him through this set back, free of complications.
We pray too for Mike's Daughter Teri's Father In Law. Pete is in Columbia Presbyterian Hospital for a Cardiac Procedure but has encountered some complications. We pray that the complications can be overcome and his healing to be complete. We pray for Pete, Teri and their Families.

Obituary
Francis (Jerry) Germann, 83, of Greenville, NC passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017 in Greenville, NC at the Vidant Medical Center. He was surrounded by his loving family members.
Jerry was born in Albany, NY on June 25, 1933 to parents Frank Charles Germann and Geraldine Graham Germann. He graduated from Christian Brothers Academy, Albany, NY in 1951 and Manhattan College in 1955. He began working for Bendix Corporation (later Allied Signal) in 1959, retiring after 34 years of service as Director of Government Financial Relations. He was an active member of the Aerospace Industries Association, and upon retirement served as a consultant with Ernst & Young.
He is survived by Joan Casazza Germann, his beloved wife of 59 years, and their three children, Geoffrey Gerard Germann and wife Sandra of Clayton, NC, Gregory Francis Germann and wife Pamela of Niskayuna, NY and Ellen Germann Carros and husband Paul of Amissville, VA; and grandchildren Mark Gregory Germann, David Anthony Germann, John Robert Carros, and Andrew Jacob Carros. He was predeceased by brother-in-law John Joseph Casazza and sister-in-law (and dance partner) Patricia Branche Casazza. He is also survived by cousin Walter Graham, uncle Joseph Keefe, nieces Jodi (Casazza) Wright, Lisa (Casazza) Budesheim, Joan Casazza, Suzanne Casazza, and Virginia (Casazza) Obman, and pug Cio-Cio.
In his youth Jerry was an outstanding baseball player. He was a perennial all-star as a pitcher and catcher in the Albany Twilight League from 1951 - 1959 and was named Most Valuable Player in 1956, Pitcher of the Year in 1957, and Hall of Fame inductee in 2006. In his post-retirement years, Jerry was a board member of the United Way of Beaufort County, organized Santa Claus calls to the children of Chocowinity, and joined the Chocowinity Fire Department as a first responder. He loved to travel the world with his wife Joan, boat and camp on Lake George, learn photography, play golf, and be "Pop" to his beloved grandchildren.
Jerry's family would like to thank the Cypress Glen Skilled Care Nursing Unit for their dedicated and compassionate care. Memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, April 29 at Cypress Glen.

Obituary
Ted Lakoski was born in New York City on April 11th, 1924.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Vera of 59 years, and their son Robert Lakoski.
Survivors include a son Ted Jr. of Leesburg Indiana; daughters Joan Lakoski Mayercik of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Katherine Lakoski Loveland of Melbourne, Australia. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and his dear friend and companion Germaine M. Pearlberg.
Ted served as an ensign in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
After receiving a Bachelor of Engineering from Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY, he subsequently joined IBM. In his career with IBM he was associated with the manufacture of semiconductor products. He was also awarded a Sloan Fellowship at M.I.T. in 1961.
His most notable assignment was the plant manager of the IBM East Fishkill New York Facility. At the time of his retirement from IBM he was plant manager at the IBM Manassas, Virginia facility.
Ted subsequently joined DuPont and served as a Plant Manager in the Research Triangle Park facility. He retired from DuPont and joined Alcoa in Rancho Bernardo, California.
In June of 1992, Ted and Vera moved to the Peridia Golf and Country Club in Manatee County. While a resident there, he enjoyed golf, reading, and taking frequent trips with Vera to visit their children and grandchildren.
He was a communicant at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church services.
Ted (our Dad, Grandpa, and Great-Grandpa) will be greatly missed. His devotion to his family was ever present and had an amazing ability to make those around him feel special.
He is off to meet and be with Vera forever…

We pray for too the repose of the soul of Of Rich Conaty. Rich, long time host of the WFUV Show, 'The Big Broadcast ' on Sunday Nights from 8 PM to Midnight. He brought smiles and memories to so many mainly playing 78's from the 1920's and 1930's. He did this gracefully for nearly 43 years.

SAN FRANCISCO – Charlie Liteky, an Army chaplain in Vietnam who won the Medal of Honor for rescuing more than 20 wounded men but later gave it back in protest and became a peace activist, has died.
Longtime friend Richard Olive said Liteky died Friday night at the Veterans Administration Hospital in San Francisco. He was 85.
The Army awarded Liteky the highest military decoration for his actions on Dec. 6, 1967, when his company came under intense fire from an enemy battalion in Bien Hoa province. Despite painful wounds in the neck and foot, Liteky carried more than 20 men to the landing zone to be evacuated during the fierce firefight.
"Noticing another trapped and seriously wounded man, Chaplain Liteky crawled to his aid," the Army's official citation reads. "Realizing that the wounded man was too heavy to carry, he rolled on his back, placed the man on his chest and through sheer determination and fortitude crawled back to the landing zone using his elbows and heels to push himself along."
He left the priesthood and in 1983, married former Catholic nun and peace activist Judy Balch in San Francisco. His wife introduced him to refugees from El Salvador, "teenagers, whose fathers had been killed and tortured. I didn't believe it, but I kept going to more and more of these meetings and it became clear these people weren't blowing in the wind," Liteky told the San Francisco Chronicle in a March, 2000 interview.
Twenty years after his heroic actions in Vietnam, Liteky left the Medal of Honor -- awarded under the name of Angelo J. Liteky -- and a letter to President Ronald Reagan at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington in protest of the country's foreign policy in Central America, where U.S.-backed dictators were fighting bloody wars against left-leaning rebels.

An older and wiser me recognizes that vets understand war, death, and Gooferment war crimes better than those who have not “seen the elephant”.
[Old soldiers in the Civil War coined a phrase for green troops who survived their first taste of battle: “He has seen the elephant."]
When a man goes thru such an experience and comes out of it, they are changed.
While that younger me was brainwashed to believe that “our government right or wrong”, the years have washed away that naïveté. Now, I don’t trust it, don’t believe it, and really don’t like it very much. The “American Experiment” went off the rails long before I came on scene and will probably be off them for a long time after me too.
That being said.
