POSITRACTION: Uber Driver Saves Teen

Uber Driver Saves Teen From Sex Trafficking Ring
by McKinley Corbley - Dec 30, 20160

*** begin quote ***

What started out as a normal Uber driving shift for Keith Avila turned into an incredible rescue of a 16-year-old girl from a child sex trafficking ring.

Keith was working on Monday night in Sacramento, California when he picked up two women and a young girl. While driving them to a Holiday Inn, he started hearing the adults openly instruct the teen on how to interact with “John” at the hotel. Their instructions reportedly included telling her to “pat him down for weapons while hugging him” and “get the donation from him” before anything happened.

Keith, being the smart man that he is, dropped the women off, drove around the corner, and called the cops.

Police officers arrived at the scene in minutes, arresting the two pimps – Destiny Pettway and Maria Westley – and the man that they were meeting. The teen was apparently a runaway who was then rescued and taken into temporary housing while law enforcement located her family.

*** end quote ***

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”— attributed to Edmund Burke

In this case, he’s a “good man” who could have turned a blind eye and deaf ear.

Now I hope these ne’er-do-wells get the proverbial book thrown at them.

If he doesn’t get a reward, I hope the Universe let’s him win the Lotto.

Uber should be proud to have such a driver.

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Colon, Philip J. (MC1962) prays for "Big John"

2017-Jan-08

John Reinke has shared news from Pete Sweeney about his Dad.

Thursday night he was increasingly disoriented and did not bounce back early on Friday.  We had him taken to the hospital for a another workup.  Result is again hypothermia but this time there is no medication to point to since we stopped the Losartan a week ago.  Warming blanket restored body temperature but his systems no longer are able to self regulate body temperature.  Cat scan, blood work etc are normal but prognosis is not good.  We will be heading to the hospital once care giver gets here for Mom around 10 15:am.

Will advise further during the day.

Please keep Mr. Sweeney and they Sweeney Family in your prayers as we pray that the MDs get Mr. Sweeney stabilized with no further complication. Please keep the volume up for this good man. Thank you. God Bless.

Corzine Agrees to Futures Industry Ban in CFTC Settlement
Bob Van Voris
Jan 06, 2017 10:55 pm ET

*** begin quote ***

(Bloomberg) -- Jon Corzine has agreed to a lifetime ban from the futures industry to settle a U.S. lawsuit that he failed to properly oversee MF Global Holdings Ltd. as the brokerage spiraled toward failure in 2011.
Corzine, an ex-governor and U.S. senator from New Jersey and the former co-chairman of Goldman Sachs Group Inc., also agreed to pay a $5 million penalty from his own pocket to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, under a consent order approved by a federal judge in New York Thursday. The agency had been seeking the industry ban since at least October.

"I am pleased to have reached this settlement to resolve the CFTC’s claims," Corzine, 70, said in a statement. "As the CEO of MF Global in 2011, I have accepted responsibility for its failure, and I deeply regret the impact it had on customers, employees, shareholders and others.”
