POSITRACTION: Tom Woods listeners are amazing

2016-Oct-29

*** begin quote ***

How about this: my listeners just paid to have a house built for a poor widow.

Likisana cares for her three grandchildren, all of whom are orphans, and one of whom is an epileptic.

After Gret Glyer, creator of the amazing DonorSee app, appeared on my show, he tweeted out a challenge to my listeners: build this woman a house.

Within days, it was done.

"The Tom Woods house is starting construction today!" Gret wrote four days ago.

With DonorSee, donors can evaluate specific projects, and then see the results of their donations in real time.

Gret's goal is to fund one project in every country in the world before the end of the year.

Here are Likisana and her grandchildren thanking you generous folks:

I emailed it last week, but if you missed it, you MUST hear my conversation with Gret Glyer, who created this truly world-changing app:

Now that’s charity in action.

Hope I can find more details or other coverage.

JOBIT: Murphy, Edward J. [MC1957 RIP] on 2016-Oct-22 by Colon, Philip J. (MC1962)

2016-Oct-24

Good Evening All,

I have just heard from Tim Mante with the sad news that his Father-In-Law, Fellow Jasper, Ed Murphy was called hom early this morning. Mr. Murphy has been in our prayers as he neared the end succombing to his year and one-half battle with Leukemia. He fought the good fight. We pray for Ed,  for Mrs. Murphy (Barbara), their Children Kathleen, Noreen, Christopher and the Family as the Family mourn the loss of their loved one. We pray that the Family find peace in knowing that their loved one is at peace in God's Eternal Embrace. Thank you Noreen and Tim for sharing the attached Obituary. Thank you. God Bless.

Edward J. Murphy, age 81, of Clifton Park passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at his home, surrounded by family and friends. Born in 1935, he was the son of the late Edward and Helen (Doyle) Murphy. He was predeceased by his sister Patricia Klein, and his grandson, Nathan Iorio.

Edward attended Bishop Loughlin High School where he began the first of many lifelong friendships with H. Peter – the man who would become his brother-in-law. It was during high school that Peter introduced Ed to Barbara, the woman with whom he would spend the rest of his life. He graduated from Manhattan College in 1957. It was there that he formed lifelong friendships with some of the greatest men we know. Immediately upon graduation he began working with the NYS Public Service Commission. He retired as the Deputy Director Public Service Commission, Gas Division, after almost 38 years of service. After retirement he volunteered his time with Care Links for 11 years. Edward loved playing golf, and had four holes-in-one during his golfing career. If it were up to him, he’d have played every day that ended in “Y”. After the Brooklyn Dodgers bailed and moved to California, he became an original NY Mets fan. He loved his family and friends and was always there for each and every one of us. He will be greatly missed. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, he had made his peace with God and was ready to go home to the Lord.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara (Zimbelmann) Murphy, daughters Kathleen (Michael) Howey, and Noreen (Timothy) Mante, and his son, Christopher (Nancy Gormley). He is also survived by his grandchildren Allison (Andrew), Julie (Joshua), April, Grace, Joanne, Brendan, Caroline, and great-granddaughter, Ava, and many loving family and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 24th from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, with a funeral Mass on Tuesday, October 25th at 12 noon at St. Edward the Confessor Church.

In lieu of flowers, Ed and his family request that donations may be made in his memory to one of the following: Care Links, 543 Saratoga Rd, Glenville, NY 12302; Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 S Pearl St, Albany, NY 12202; or City Mission of Schenectady, 425 Hamilton St, Schenectady, NY 12305. Truly, he would love nothing more than if you were to do a kind deed.

COMMENT: Apoldo, Lou (MC1963) agrees it's time for concern about American Catholics

2016-Oct-23

With 40% of parish Catholics not registered or not voting, this is an indictment of the lack of leadership of our American clergy, to encourage parishoners from the pulpit to exercise their rights as American citizens.  This will be especially important in the upcoming presidential election, where recently released emails have indicated that the party in power is desparately trying to minimize the impact of religion (and the Catholic religion in particular) on American life, so that that they can impose their own secular non-judgemental principles that will promote their "If it feels good do it in the middle of the road" philosophy on a dumbed down America.  If this election goes the wrong way, religious Americans can lose some or all of their First Amendment religious rights, under the policies of a uberliberal government and a socialist Supreme Court.  It’s time for concerned American Catholics to be sure to vote, and to buy more ammo, just in case.

Retired teacher, 88, killed in crash near Christian Brothers Academy

MIDDLETOWN — Brother James Leahy was a fixture on the Christian Brothers Academy campus, well known at the private boys' school in Lincroft for his volunteerism and his distinguished career that took him to East Africa for nine years.

At 88, Leahy had his daily routine down: daily Mass, lunch with his fellow retired brothers, a trip to the mailbox to put out the day's correspondence and a nice long walk in the nearby county park.

It was at the start of one of those walks on Wednesday afternoon, school officials said, that Leahy was hit by a car and killed, leaving his religious community mourning a man who devoted his life to teaching.

"He was active, funny and had a great sense of humor," said Brother Frank Byrne, president of Christian Brothers. "He was 88 years old and still very active."

Releasing few details about the incident, Middletown police said Leahy was hit by a car in front of the school around 1:36 p.m.

*** and ***

Born in New York, Leahy joined the brothers in 1946 and worked in several elementary and high schools and was a professor at St. Mary's College in California and Manhattan College in New York, Byrne said.

Gingrich: 20 Media Executives Are Launching A "Coup D'Etat" Against Millions Of Trump Voters
Posted By Tim Hains On Date October 16, 2016

*** begin quote ***

In an interview with 'This Week' co-host Martha Raddatz, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich categorized Donald Trump's 'rigged election' claims as a "coup d'etat" against fourteen million citizens who voted for Donald Trump in the Republican primary committed by "20 media executives."

"This is about last Friday when the networks spent 23 minutes on the Trump tape," he said. "And less than one minute -- all three networks combined -- less than one minute on the Hillary Clinton’s secret speeches that were being revealed on WikiLeaks."

"I think it’s amazing that Trump is as close as he is right now, considering the one-sidedness of the news media barrage," Gingrich said.

He also said: "I’m old enough to remember when Richard Nixon had the election stolen in 1960 and no serious historian doubts that Illinois and Texas were stolen. So to suggest that we have -- that you don’t have theft in Philadelphia is to deny reality."

Again, I like Mister Newt, despite his character flaws. There’s very few people out there that don’t have them.

In this case, I think he is spot on. The extremely liberal leftist media want to “elect” their choice of a hard left Crony Capitalist politician.

I don’t know how DJT can win with these forces aligned against him.

It’ll be a sad day for the USA if HRC wins. And for people of faith even worse.

Argh!
