POSITRACTION: "If you’re behind me at McDonald’s, ... ..."

2016-Aug-21

When You're the Parent Ordering 'Just a Bun' at McDonald's

*** begin quote ***

I don’t want to be that customer. I would love to walk into McDonald’s and just order a Happy Meal and be done. Nope, that’s not me.

You see, my son only eats the bun. So my order goes like this: “I would like a bun, just the bun, no meat, no ketchup, mustard, pickles or onions or cheese.” The cashier looks at me confused. “Yes, that’s right, I just want the bun, a plain bun with nothing on it.” The manager usually has to come over and show the cashier how to ring it up. I am happy to pay full price for just the bun. Then the kitchen staff always asks, “They just want a bun?” The cashier, manager and I all say yes.

We have about a 75-percent success rate.

*** end quote ***

I got an email from one of my relatives about her similar challenge.

*** begin quote ***

{Privacy Invoked} and I laughed so hard at this story because this is our {Privacy Invoked} and when we order at McDonald’s this is exactly how we order except we have to add the French fries that have to be in a Red box  …… dry nothing on it just the french fries in a Red box.

*** end quote ***

We all are so lucky that we don’t have these challenges.

I’ve blogged about taking my fiancée to JFK for rehab and seeing all those who make me feel “lucky”.

Yesterday, I was at the bank at the end of a long queue. I was annoyed. Annoyed at only two tellers. Annoyed at how hot and humid it was. Annoyed at the fat I had earlier in the day. Annoyed with life.

Then, today I get an email with this story that puts it all in perspective.

I hope I can have MORE patience when it’s required.

After all, I was lucky to have such MINOR annoyances to be annoyed out.

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Colon, Philip J. (MC1962) prays for a young couple

2016-Aug-21

Good Evening All,

A young couple has reached out to me because of hearing of our prayer group. Because of alchohol and drugs being abused by one of the couple, the couple are having problems in their marriage and of course their life. They have taken the first step by first of all admitting there is a problem and reaching out for help through a friend to us. If there are recommendations that you are willing to make, please do so to me because I will then share it with this young Family. They are afraid and worried and need our help and prayers. Thank you. God Bless.

PS: I just was told the couple requesting help live on Long Island. Any suggested contacts, orofessionals, programs would be appreciated.

Thank you. God Bless.

JOBIT: Brennan, Peter Paul [MC1972 RIP] on 2016-Aug-01

W.H. archbishop, advocate for a married priesthood, dies

West Hempstead resident Peter Paul Brennan, the archbishop of the Old Catholic Confederation and an advocate for a married priesthood, ecumenism and social justice for more than 40 years, died on Aug. 1, of pulmonary fibrosis. He was 75.

Brennan was ordained as a married priest in 1972 under the Old Roman Catholic Church, which had split from the Roman Catholic Church in 1870. He was later consecrated a bishop in 1978, under the African Orthodox Church. He also served as the prime-bishop of the Ecumenical Catholic Diocese of the Americas, an independent Catholic church.

In 2006, he was consecrated, along with three other men, as bishop sub conditione by the Most Rev. Emmanuel Milingo, who was then Roman Archbishop Emeritus of Lusaka, Zambia. Milingo, an advocate for the elimination of celibacy rules for Roman Catholic priests, was later excommunicated from the Church along with all four men.

Brennan was also known as an advocate for his decades of work in ecumenism and Christian unity. He was president and prelate of the international Catholic Prelature of Ss. Peter and Paul, a movement in support of married priests founded by Milingo. At his death, Brennan was president of Married Priests Now!, an advocacy group calling to relax the rules of marriage in the Roman Catholic priesthood. Additionally, Brennan supported the ordination of women.

“These things have now become very acceptable by society,” said the Most Rev. Craig J.N. de Paulo, primate of the Old Catholic Confederation, and its archbishop of the United States. “He was administering these to people way before it became acceptable.”

In an open letter to Pope Francis on the website marriedpriests.org, Brennan wrote, “… Remember, in apostolic times priests were married. Jesus chose married men as his apostles. St. Peter was a married priest. In the first three centuries many bishops and popes were married. So it is an apostolic charism [charisma] to have a married priesthood along with the freely chosen celibate priesthood.”

In his secular life, Brennan spent over three decades as an educator and administrator in the New York City public school system, and was a chair of the English department at West Hempstead High School for several years, his daughter, Shawna Irish, said.

He held several degrees, including an A.B. in philosophy from St. Pius X Seminary, an M.A. in theology from St. John’s University and an M.A. in education from Manhattan College. He also held several honorary degrees, including a doctor divinitatis from the Collegium Augustinianum Graduate School of Philosophy and Theology.

Brennan was married to his late wife, Marie Kirby, for 40 years, and was the father of three adult children and five grandchildren.

COMMENT: Toner, Mike (MC1972) sees Kaine differently

In last week's endnote...
Catholic Church Gives Pro-Abortion Tim Kaine a Standing Ovation
NATIONAL EMILY DEROIS JUL 29, 2016 | 5:39PM WASHINGTON, DC

*** begin quote ***

On Sunday, Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine was given a standing ovation by his Catholic parish, California Catholic Daily reported. While his fellow parishioners are celebrating him as Hillary Clinton’s pro-abortion running mate, many Catholics are speaking out against him because of his position on abortion...

*** end quote ***

I would suggest that he is not "pro-abortion" - but simply pro -"let women make their own decisions about their bodies" without government interference and let that freedom not be limited to those "of means"...

[JR: That might be one way to look at it. But, I’ll grant you that as soon as he speaks out about other “government interference”! ]

ENDNOTE: The Establishment didn't pick Trump!

2016-Aug-27

https://charleshughsmith.blogspot.rs/2016/08/the-more-establishment-freaks-out-over.html

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 10, 2016
The More the Establishment Freaks Out Over Trump, the More Attractive He Becomes

*** begin quote ***

Trump is attractive precisely because the Establishment fears and loathes him because 1) they didn't pick him and 2) he might upset the neoconservative Empire that the Establishment elites view as their global entitlement.

The Establishment is freaking out about Donald Trump for one reason: they didn't pick him.

The Establishment is freaking out because the natural order of things is that we pick the presidential candidates and we run the country to serve ourselves, i.e. the financial-political elites.Donald Trump's candidacy upsets this neofeudal natural order, and thus he (and everyone who supports him) is anathema to the Establishment, heretics who must be silenced, cowed, marginalized, mocked and ultimately put back in their place as subservient debt-serfs.

*** end quote ***

Trump is  the prettiest horse in the glue factory coral.

And, he dared to suggest peace with Russia and end NATO.

That already is progress.

If he can stop the current Middle East blundering around “drone-ing” everything, then maybe it can settle down/
