POSITRACTION: A simple cheap blood test could show risks

Blood test shows chance of suffering heart attack within five years
Some people appear to have strong immune systems which protect them from heart attacks
CREDIT: ALAMY Sarah Knapton, science editor 20 JUNE 2016 • 12:01AM

*** begin quote ***

A simple blood test could warn people whether they are likely to suffer a heart attack within five years, scientists believe.

Researchers have discovered that high levels of antibodies – molecules produced by the immune system – are linked to a low risk of heart problems, regardless of other risk factors.

Currently doctors use information such as age, sex, medical history, cholesterol levels and blood pressure to calculate the risk of future heart problems.

But the new test looks for levels of protective IgG antibodies which seem to shield the body from a heart attack even when cholesterol and blood pressure is high.

*** end quote ***

Amazing.

While we pretend to “know” so much, here’s a factoid that has been hidden from out “eyes”.

How many folks could have been saved if this was available sooner?

Even more important, how much time, energy, and resources could have been refocused from the “treatment” who don’t need it to those that do.

Like the “(pseudo) War on (some) Drugs”, “those people” waste time, energy, and resources on a counter productive “solution”.

Hopefully, the human race will get “smarter”, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

There’s too much “pride” to get in the way.

And, we have so much to be humble about.

Credit Agricole CIB Appoints Gerard R. Vincitore, Former New York Power Authority (NYPA) Senior Vice President, Managing Director in Structured Finance Advisory Group
Vincitore Will Head Advisory in North America
June 28, 2016 10:51 AM Eastern Daylight Time

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Crédit Agricole Corporate & Investment Bank -- the corporate and investment banking arm of the Crédit Agricole Group, the world’s ninth largest bank by total assets – announced today the appointment of Gerard R. Vincitore as a Managing Director in its Structured Finance Advisory Group for Americas, where he will head up advisory activities in the North American Power & Utilities Sector and in addition be involved in specific energy related transactions in the Americas. He will be based in New York City.

Credit Agricole CIB is a long-standing market leader in project finance both globally and in the US & Canada providing structured finance solutions through its Energy & Infrastructure business line. Regionally, the bank has been an innovative financier for a broad range of energy projects, including renewable and conventional power, distributed generation, gas transportation infrastructure, LNG export, petrochemicals, and other infrastructure projects.

Prior to joining Crédit Agricole CIB, Mr. Vincitore was a financial executive with the New York Power Authority (NYPA), the nation’s largest public utility, most recently as Senior Vice President of Corporate Finance. His responsibilities, in addition to corporate financial management, included identifying, evaluating, structuring, and supporting the implementation of Authority initiatives including new generation and transmission projects (both as owner or off-taker), customer financial offerings, energy policy projects, and mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. He has successfully structured over 1500 MW ($2.0 billion) of new generation projects and 1100 MW ($1.0 billion) of transmission projects, including the negotiation of two major transmission development partnerships and advised on several key Authority energy policy initiatives (New York Energy Highway, k-Solar, etc.).

“The Power and Utilities sector is a key vertical within the Global Energy & Infrastructure Practice and a dominant part of our activity for more than 15 years. With Jerry’s appointment we will expand into advising on debt and equity capital raising and other strategic advisory services in this sector in North America, reflecting the evolution of our advisory practice globally. With over 18 years of experience, Jerry brings an extraordinarily deep understanding of the power sector with differentiating perspectives of the various stakeholders that will enrich our client engagement,” said Jaya Viswanadha, who heads the Structured Finance Advisory Group in Americas and to whom Mr. Vincitore will report.

Upon graduating college in 1998, Mr. Vincitore joined ABB Lummus Global, Inc. (now part of Chicago Bridge & Iron Company) as a Process Engineer in the Refining Technology Business Group, where he spent four years before moving to his first stint with the New York Power Authority (NYPA) as a Senior Investment Analyst and Portfolio Manager. He left the utility after two years for Natixis, an investment bank, before rejoining NYPA in 2009, rising successively in responsibility to his most recent position.

Mr. Vincitore holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Manhattan College, a MBA from Fordham University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

He was a rare breed and I doubt there are

Many like this man. He has a unique and compassionate spirit and was always funny.

I will always be in debt to this man for what he

Has taught me and done for me as a young

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Campbell, Katie [MC????] request prayers for boyfriend

Katie Campbell 4 hrs ·

Hey, so… I don't even know where to begin as I try to write this. I stopped using Facebook for the most part because my life is a complete mess, but right now I can use all the prayers and support you guys can give...

My boyfriend, the love of my life, my partner in crime, biggest supporter and my best friend is in the ICU at st joes in a coma. He's on a ventilator because he's not getting enough oxygen breathing on his own. He has a terrible infection that could go to his heart and pneumonia as his left lung is completely filled with fluid.

I found him overdosed on our bed last night. He was unconscious and gray, not breathing, flat on his back covered in his own vomit. I started CPR and waited for the paramedics. After half an hour and two rounds of narcan they still couldn't revive him.

We can use all the prayers that you guys can give. please please, PLEASE just pray for him. Pray for us, pray that he survives this so we can fix our lives and repair all the damage we've caused along the way. It's so embarrassing and humbling to even write this, but we need all the love, prayers and help we can get right now.

Thank you.

ENDNOTE: I will defend to the death your rights

2016-Jul-02

Dear CV Friend,

There is no tip toeing around this.

It’s time to be blunt.

Early Sunday morning, 49 of our fellow Americans were killed by a purportedly gay, radical Islamist, who pledged allegiance to ISIS. The killer scoped several locations for his heinous crime, including Disney World where tens of thousands of families visit every day. He ultimately committed his crime at a gay night club.

Shamefully, in the days since the massacre, partisan ideologues have used the mass-murder to demonize Christians, gun owners, and anyone who doesn’t fully embrace the radical LGBT agenda.

...and it’s not just the ACLU.

Several of our own Bishops are engaging in this madness.

This is disgraceful. And wrong.

Every person killed in Orlando was made in the image and likeness of God. Human dignity does not stop at the doorstep of a gay night club. Each of the victims was loved by God beyond measure.

Not a single Catholic has celebrated this crime. Not one Catholic voice has called for violence against gay and lesbian people. But now, an increasing number of leaders are attempting to exploit the terrorist attack in Orlando to advance political agendas -- and they are even blaming us!

Don’t believe me? Consider just these few examples:
Bishop Robert Lynch of St. Petersburg, Florida, wrote in a national editorial: “sadly it is religion, including our own, which targets, mostly verbally, and also often breeds contempt for gays, lesbians and transgender people. Attacks today on LGBT men and women often plant the seed of contempt, then hatred, which can ultimately lead to violence.” Link.

A New York Times editorial today: “...lawmakers who have actively championed discriminatory laws and policies, and those who have quietly enabled them with votes, should force themselves to read the obituaries and look at the photos. The 49 people killed in Orlando were victims of a terrorist attack. But they also need to be remembered as casualties of a society where hate has deep roots.” Link.

Chase Strangio, a lawyer for the ACLU's LGBT & AIDS Project: “The Christian Right has introduced 200 anti-LGBT bills in the last six months and people blaming Islam for this. No. You know what is gross - your thoughts and prayers and Islamophobia after you created this anti-queer climate.” Link.

Virginia Congressman Don Beyer claimed if you oppose transgender bathrooms, you are part of the problem. “Hatred breeds hatred… we are not blameless.” he said. Link.
Did you get that? You and I are partly to blame for Orlando.

Catholics who believe in the natural institution of marriage and the intrinsic beauty and complementarity of men and women, and who desire to protect women and children from predators in public restrooms helped fuel this terrorist attack? This is outrageous.

This is nothing more than the shameless exploitation of a terrible terrorist attack to fuel hatred of anyone that believes in the time-honored institution of marriage, and traditional sexual morality.

What happened in Orlando was an act of terrorism, fueled by a radical ideology and carried out by a mad man. To suggest that faithful Catholics helped encourage this attack is beyond disgraceful.

We will not stand for it. And neither should you.

I am asking every CV member to write or call Bishop Lynch in St. Petersburg today.

Ask him to clarify his comments, which suggest that Catholic teaching on marriage and sexuality somehow “breeds contempt for gays.” Ask him to consider issuing a public clarification.

CONTACT INFO:

Bishop Robert Lynch
Diocese of St. Petersburg
P.O. Box 40200
St. Petersburg, FL 33743-0200
Phone: 727-344-1611
Fax: 727-345-2143
Email: communicate@dosp.org

Please do not personally attack the Bishop. He remains a shepherd of the Church. However, we must defend our rights as Catholics to follow the teachings of our Church -- and respond together to the insinuation that doing so leads to violence.

We ask you to be charitable, but firm.

Someone has to stand up.

If not us, who?

Brian

# - # - # - # - #

I’m sorry but I don’t agree with the Bishop, the NY Times, or the ACLU.

LGBT is “collectivist” concept. I think their are only HUMAN rights. Everyone has that same rights.

To be left alone in peace.

I don’t have to approve their choices in lifestyle. But by the same token, I don’t need them to approve mine either.

As a little L libertarian, if we would just get back to, as Jason Stapleton phrases it, “limited government, individualism, tolerance, peace, and free markets”, then we’d see that the self-ownership principle would allows one to make their own choices and defend themselves.

I no more hate LGBTs than I do Liberals, Conservative, Democrats, or Republicans.

I may disagree vehemently with them and their choices, but I’ll defend them and their rights.

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" — often misattributed to Voltaire
