The Rice graduate and Bronx product has spent much of June and July playing with the Puerto Rican National Team. By far its youngest player, Andujar said his veteran teammates taught him a lot, particularly the mental side of the game. “The older guys on the team, they’ve been through [everything], they’ve been out of college six or seven years,” the rising junior told The Rumble’s Zach Braziller. “They already know what it takes. It felt good, because at Manhattan I have to lead always. Coming on this team, I was the underdog, the rookie, they had to lead me. It had to be the one to listen instead of talking. Emmy Andujar “It’s going to help me become more of a leader on and off the court, knowing what to tell my guys before and after games, just being that glue guy for my team.” Andujar, whose mother is from Puerto Rico, played with the 18-and-under team in high school and was invited to tryout in June. He made the team and went to China with the squad for three weeks for the 2013 Stankovic Cup, which included scores of professional standouts overseas and former NBA players. Puerto Rico finished fourth out of six teams, going 2-3. As part of the trip to China, the team visited group homes, met with children and went sightseeing. They were also mobbed, asked for autographs and to pose for pictures, when wearing their Puerto Rico shirts. “It’s crazy how packed the street is and how everyone noticed us and showed us a lot of love,” Andujar said. Andujar said he thinks the experience will pay off, using the lessons he learned and bringing them with him to Riverdale this season. He hopes to help the Jaspers to a MAAC crown this winter — they reached the conference championship game last March — and down the road would like to play for Puerto Rico again, possibly even at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil. “I’ll stay in contact [with them],” he said. “Hopefully I can get the opportunity again. He was the husband of Veronica "Ronnie" (McKeon) Coleman. He was born January 27, 1928 in New York, NY son of the late Thomas and Mary (Kennedy) Coleman. Michael proudly served as a Paratrooper in the United States Army during World War II, and he was an alumn of Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY, Class of 1952. He was the Associate Dean for Administration at the Yale School of Medicine prior to his retirement. He was a Councilman in New Jersey, a Lay Minister at St. Bridget Church, and in his free time was an avid Sailor, Hiker, Golfer, loved listening to Irish Music, and above all loved spending time with his family. Besides his wife, Michael is survived by four sons Michael and his wife Colette Coleman, Kevin and his wife Sherrie Coleman, Joseph and his wife Kathy Coleman, and Robert and his wife Patricia Coleman; four daughters Mary and her husband Dan Fernandez, Nancy and her husband Kevin Columbia, Eileen and her husband Kurt Tiefenthaler, and Veronica and her husband Luke Ziccardi; a sister Marie Frances Coleman; and sixteen grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Thomas Coleman. Michael's funeral will leave from the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St, 06410 on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 9:30AM for a mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Bridget Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire 06410. Cosulich Associates, which began in the mid 1960's. His firm deals with all aspects of environmental engineering including sewage and water systems, landfills, incinerators and all other issues dealing with the environment. From his start as a Long Island firm, he expanded into New York City, New York State, New Jersey and other U.S.A. areas. Bill was also involved in engineering projects in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Argentina and areas of northern South America. As his firm began to grow, he took in two partners Miro Dvirka and Nicholas Bartilucci. Some years later, Cosulich decided to form a subsiderary company named Dvirka and Bartilucci. Both entities continue today. To let younger engineers advance, he decided to retire at age 65. He then began volunteering with the International Executive Service Corps and workd with the World Bank and U.S. Aid. Loehr Obituary Dr. Walter Joseph Loehr passed away at his home on July 19, 2013. Born in 1937 to German immigrants, Johanna and Anton Loehr, Dr. Loehr was raised in Brooklyn, NY. He was predeceased by his older brother, Robert Loehr in December, 2012. Dr. Loehr attended parochial grammar and high school, and graduated pre-med with honors in Biology at Manhattan College in New York. He was accepted at Cornell Medical School in New York City in 1959 and graduated in 1963, the same year he married Elizabeth Ann Moran. Dr. Loehr then completed an extended seven year residency in thoracic, vascular and general surgery at New York Hospital (now New York Presbyterian) in 1969. As chief surgical resident, Dr. Loehr was part of the team to perform the first double lung, open heart transplant at New York Hospital under the direction of Dr. Richard C. Lillehei in 1969. Dr. Loehr served as a Major in the United States Air Force from 1969-1971 at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma. In 1971, Dr. Loehr began his surgical practice at Watts Hospital in Durham, joining Dr. James E. Davis on Broad Street. He served as Chief of Surgery at Durham County General Hospital from 1984-1994. As Chief, Dr. Loehr successfully advocated for the official dedication of the James E. Davis Ambulatory Center. Dr. Loehr was an instructor for the Duke University Medical Center Surgical Residency Program, and an adjunct professor at UNC Memorial Hospital. Dr. Loehr pioneered bariatric surgery in Durham and specialized in wound care. He later joined Regional Surgical Associates and continued his career at Durham Regional with rotations at Lincoln Hospital as well. He received numerous professional awards, including Charter Membership with the American Society of General Surgeons and Honorary Lifetime Member of the William Osler Medical History Society of the Bowman Gray School of Medicine. Dr. Loehr attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Durham, Hollow Rock Racquet and Swim Club, Metrosport Athletic Club, the YMCA in Durham, and Buckhorn Pistol Range. Dr. Loehr was an expert on Civil War Medicine and medical history as well as on ballistics and wounds. He was also honored to share his other passion for Norman Rockwell's art with the community whenever possible. Dr. Loehr retired in 2003 and was able to pursue other interests, including his love of croquet. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was honored as a "Geezer Extraordinaire" for his service to Habitat for Humanity of Durham. He shared through example his love of exercise and sports, for which his children are grateful. Dr. Loehr received numerous awards in tennis, racquetball, squash, and pistol and skeet shooting. Dr. Loehr will be remembered most of all by his children and loving friends for his generous humble spirit, quiet wisdom and focus on life's simple but important gifts. Dr. Loehr is survived by his four children, Dr. Stephen P. Loehr of Chapel Hill, Michael M. Loehr of Seattle, WA, Kristina L. Morrison, J.D. of Tempe, AZ, and Anita M. Loehr of Tempe, AZ. He was a beloved "Opa" to four grandchildren, Millicent and Carson Loehr of Chapel Hill, and Nicholas and Anthony Morrison of Tempe, AZ; son-in-law, Ted Morrison of Tempe, AZ, and daughters-in-law, Dr. Laura R. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School and Manhattan College in the Bronx as well as served in the US Army & Army Reserves. After marrying Brenda Coffey Purtell, also from the Bronx, they moved to Fairlawn, NJ briefly before residing in Allendale, NJ for 38 years where Jeff was active in community affairs as a Life Member and Treasurer of the Holiday Observers; Committee chairman of Troop 59 BSA; baseball and soccer coach for the Allendale Athletic Association; as well as a Lector at Guardian Angel RC church. He retired from AT&T (formerly Western Electric) in 1995 after 38 years of service. During his career he served in New York City and Newark, NJ conducting wage & salary studies; as well as a consultant in Labor Relations for manufacturing locations nationwide. As President of the New Jersey Self Insurers Association, he chaired a coalition that successfully achieved major reforms in NJ's workers' compensation law, receiving the NJ General Assembly's Highest commendation for the outstanding work he rendered to the workers and business community. Jeff also was appointed by Governor Tom Kean to a task force to review workers' compensation benefits. Jeff and Brenda moved to Pawleys Island, SC and were active members of the Precious Blood RC Church from 1996 until moving to Virginia in 2012.
