POSITRACTION: Save the world; one action at a time

The Gifts of Random Acts of Kindness
Erica Sofrina
March 14, 2013

*** begin quote ***

I received a powerful teaching that day. I saw that I did not have to save the world. I just needed to show up and do the things that appeared on my path each day. I learned that life unfolds in the moment and must be lived and acted upon in the moment, or a precious and possibly even life-changing opportunity can be lost forever. The challenge is to listen to that quiet voice and not the often-louder ones that declare all of the reasons why it is not a good or “practical” idea.

*** end quote ***

I hope that I can listen to my inner soul and do good things.

Read the whole story. It's impressive in its simplicity.

Reminds me of the new Pope.

Lawsuit: Company cheated laid-off employees out of stock
Jason Grant/The Star-Ledger By Jason Grant/The Star-Ledger
on March 23, 2013 at 6:50 AM, updated March 23, 2013 at 6:51 AM

*** begin quote ***

NEWARK — Last September, not long after being laid off from his job with United Technologies, Richard Grisafi logged onto an account to check on his company stock. To his shock, the account was empty, he said.

"I couldn’t believe they took 141 shares from me, after I had worked for it," Grisafi, 31, said yesterday, just hours after a class-action lawsuit, in which he’s named as the lead plaintiff, was filed in Newark against the United Technologies, a multinational company based in Connecticut.

Grisafi’s civil lawsuit — he claims he’s lost about $13,000 worth of stock — is brought on behalf of himself and more than 5,000 other former United Technologies employees who he claims completed post-secondary degrees under the company’s "Employee Scholars" program, often putting in years of work at nights and on weekends and holidays.

*** and ***

But then, he claims, as the company paid his tuition to Manhattan College, where he earned a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, the company suddenly changed the one-year requirement to three years.

*** and ***

He’s now sent out about 50 résumés looking for new work.

Teenager Mistakes Little Brother for Intruder, Shoots Him
Source: ABC news via Yahoo

A teenager shot and killed his 12-year-old brother because he mistook him for an intruder in their Florida home, police said today.

According to police the 16-year-old was home alone on Friday when his younger brother came home.

"He heard some noises and he called out for his brother and he didn't answer and then his brother startled him," Orlando Police Department Detective Mike Moreschi told ABCNews.com affiliate WFTV.

Scared that there was an intruder in the home, the older boy grabbed a gun and shot his brother, according to police. Once the teen realized what had happened, he immediately called 911.

[JR: Yes, it's irresponsible to use a gun when you haven't identified your target. Too many movies. And, you have to know what's behind your target as well. Unfortunately, the threats that we don't see is the out of control Gooferment. And, the out of control crime. Clearly the older boy wasn't trained well enough. We aren't given all the facts, (like was the home broken into before), but if you take any of the gun courses -- at least the one's I've taken -- safety to yourself and others is stressed. I don't think there are "Gun Gods". I do think that the Right is enshrined in the Constitution for a good reason. And, I personally know from survivors that your RKBA is all that stands between peace and genocide.]

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Colon, Philip J. (MC1962) Happy Easter and Easter and Passover Blessings

Good Afternoon All,

As we share Easter and Passover it is always special to me to contemplate the fact that as the Rabbi in one of my favorite Sukkot (Celebrated in September) Stories said to the wealthy traveler that asked him, the Rabbi, Why do you live in such squalor? You are the chief Holy Man in this village. The Rabbi asked him, the wealthy traveler, where are your riches and the traveler responded, I am just passing through. The Rabbi said, so am I just passing through. Life is a journey, we are all just passing through but I have to tell you it is special to be passing through with each of you as friends and Family.. Thank you. God Bless. Happy Easter and Easter and Passover Blessings as we are just Passing through.

I guess we learned nothing from this lady's suffering. And that of her fellow nurses.

We proceed on the path of empire and put women in harm's way.

What are we stupid?

Women aren't expendable. There's a natural reason why the species produced more men than women. Men are expendable to a certain extent; women ain't.

Seems so obvious to this fat old white guy injineer!
