Obituary
Gerard J. DHuy, Jerry, was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 2, 1936 to George F. and Rose M. (Cook) DHuy, and died Friday, December 28, 2012 in Tucson, AZ, in the presence of his wife, Christine (Bodurka) DHuy and daughter, Kathy Ann (DHuy) Johnson.
Before retiring in Tucson, Jerry DHuy lived in Bethlehem, PA. His father took a position with Bethlehem Steel Company when Jerry was five years old. He attended Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic School and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Allentown, PA. Mr. DHuy received a Bachelors Degree from Duke University in 1959, and two post-graduate degrees from Lehigh University and New York University. He taught Structural Engineering at Manhattan College for seven years before returning to Bethlehem, PA, where he established DHuy Engineering in 1976. DHuy Engineering, Inc. specializes in structural engineering design and construction project management and grew to approximately 40 employees. He retired in 2007 and continued to consult on a number of projects.
In 2003, Mr. DHuy focused his passion for Ventana Canyon and led a small group of Ventana Canyon Golf and Racquet Club members and purchased the property. This successful effort has provided ownership for almost 300 members, allowing the Club to thrive and create employment for its entire staff. He led the Alliance Group as Chairman of the Board for three years, and he was always grateful for the outstanding effort of the staff and management team.
Survivors: He is survived by his wife, Christine (Bodurka) DHuy; two children: Kathy Ann DHuy Johnson (Henry), and Gerard J. DHuy (Sandi); three grandchildren: Connor DHuy Johnson, Alexandra DHuy, and Tyler DHuy; a brother George J. R. DHuy of Montreal, Canada; three step-children: Colleen Bresnak, Brian Fritz (Cheryl), and Jon Fritz; three step-grandchildren: Cody Bresnak, Nicholas Fritz, and Addison Fritz.
Services: A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 5, 2013, at St. Albans Episcopal Church, 3738 Old Sabino Canyon Road, Tucson, AZ 85750. Contributions: Memorial donations may be made to The Salvation Army, Peppis House, or charity of ones choice. Memorial donations may also be made to DHuy Engineering, Inc., One East Broad Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018, for the DHuy Engineering Scholarship Fund.

There is a great article in "The Tablet" (www.thetablet.org), December 22, 2012 edition. It was written by Jim Mancari (jmancari@desalesmedia.org).
Another prime example of a dedicated and talented Jasper we never heard of. He was a walk on at Manhattan and ended up being the Captain of both the Basketball and Baseball teams.
In the tradition of St. John Baptist De LaSalle he defined his life teaching Math to high school and college students. By the way he is currently the varsity Basketball Coach at Manhasset H.S.
in Long Island. He also played ABA basketball for NY Nets under Lou Carnescca.

George Bruns was likely very good at keeping his own basketball statistics; he was a math teacher after all.
In an interesting turn of events, Bruns, who was teaching at Msgr. McClancy M.H.S., East Elmhurst, at the time, was signed in the spring of 1973 by the New York Nets of the American Basketball Association (ABA). He played in the final 13 regular season games that season and appeared in the playoffs.
“That was a surprising development that I ever got a chance to play,” said Bruns, now 66.

Robert J. Moran
AGE: 77 • Ocean Township
Robert J. Moran, 77, passed away on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at home in Ocean Township. He was born in Yonkers, NY, and lived in Oceanport for 30 years before moving to Ocean Township. Robert was a parishioner of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in West End. Bob was larger than life to all those lucky to have known him; whether it was on the golf course at Old Orchard Country Club or enjoying summers at Peninsula House. People gravitated towards his joy of life, his sense of humor and his tremendous laugh. Bob was a 1956 graduate of Manhattan College and then graduated Naval OCS, Newport, RI, before serving on the USS Spiegel Grove as a Lieutenant JG. He spent his professional career as a senior executive of outdoor media at Foster & Kleiser Company, and then at 3M National Advertising until his retirement in 1996. He was also a founder of the Dinosaur Club, a fellowship of professionals from the golden age of NYC advertising. Bob was a lifelong Mets fan and season ticket holder of his beloved New York Giants for 53 years, happily watching one last win this past Sunday.
He is predeceased by his parents, John and Catherine (Whalen) Moran; his daughter, Cathleen; and his brother-in-law, J.J. Cunningham. Surviving is his loving wife of 52 years, Carol C. Moran of Ocean Township; his devoted children, son Tod Moran, daughter, Patti Moran, his son-in-law, Michael Elisha; his brother-in-law, Edward I. Cunningham; and his beloved granddaughter, Kate Elisha.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5 at St. Michael's, West End. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in Robert's memory to the Kate's Foundation for Melanoma Awareness and Research at katesfoundation.com or via mail to 13 Eagle Nest Road, Colts Neck, NJ 07722. Pete Krupp Least we forget Broadway a/k/a Joe's Pizza. Some great times were had there before and after the Greenleaf, Pinewood or Terminal. I didn't distinguish between locals or student establishments. A cold adult beverage was a cold adult beverage no matter the source. 72 - 76.

FJohn Reinke For this injineer, the Greenleaf was a required rest stop after Theoology with Father Bruce. With my head filled with "dannny lew" and the ways to know God, Teilhard de Cardin saying science leads us to God, and being called a blundering barbarian from down the hill to tortue the Arts Department, I needed to wash away my sins. Argh! Times were so much simpler then. I didn't patronize the Leaf when I was in High School, they checked proof; whereas the Terminal was content to over charge us for the 'water of life'. Argh! So much simpler.

Carolyn is survived by Matt, her High School Sweetheart and loving husband of 51 years as well as three children and twelve grandchildren- Daughter Melissa, a Registered Nurse and mother of Aiden, Kieran, Shannon, Erin and Finnian, residing in Palos Verdes Estates, CA; her son, Matthew, an engineer and consultant, lives in Congers with his wife Kathleen and children Meaghan, Matthew and Kyle, and her youngest son, Scott, an Orthopedic Surgeon lives in Salisbury, MD with his wife Lauren and children Dylan, Benjamin, Justin and Zachary. Also surviving are Carolyns three sisters, Dorothy, Sally, and Patsy, and many nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was born to the late Martha and Frank Collins on Oct. 17 at Nyack Hospital. She attended Nyack High and was an excellent student. She was a cheerleader and musician. She quickly met Matt, Captain of the soccer team and they had many wonderful memories of those High School Days including "The Good Ole 47" Ford and, Matt, the Senior Class President, and his girl, Carolyn, at the Prom.
Following graduation, Carolyn worked for the Nyack School District while Matt commuted to Manhattan College to pursue a career in engineering and the USAF. After graduation, Matt was offered a position with General Electric that continued their journey outside of New York. Their first stop Dekalb, IL was short, just 3 weeks before the newly commissioned 2nd Lieutenant received his orders to report for duty, but Matt recalls that it was a long time after it was revealed that his devoted wife, Carolyn sat in the car outside the GE Plant each of day and watched over her husband and waited to take him home.
Their first stop with the Air Force was Minot, North Dakota, where they welcomed their newborn daughter, Melissa. Before returning to Rockland County, they had a second child Matthew. Later, Carolyns baby, the youngest of the three, Scott, was born at the same hospital as his Mom and Dad, and they set roots in Congers, NY to raise their family.
Carolyn worked for the Clarkstown School District for many years before retiring and tirelessly supported her three children spiritually, academically, and in athletics. Carolyn was known to be an active member of the PTA at Congers Elementary School, Class Mom, Team Mother, and Cheerleader.
Carolyn and Matt were active members at St. Pauls parish for over 45 years and served as Eucaristitic Minsters together. Carolyn was a member of the Parish prayer group. Carolyn and Matt taught Religious Education in their home to students of the Parish for many years. Carolyn and Matt also have many fond memories and friends from their involvement with Marriage Encounter.
Carolyn enjoyed extensive travel with her husband Matt and are thankful for the companionship and compassion of the their friends in the K.I.T. Club and West Nyack Seniors II. Carolyn was also very fond of all the wonderful neighbors, friends, and community that touched our lives.
Visiting Hours for beloved Carolyn McGovern are at Higgins Funeral Home, 321 South Main Street, New City, NY on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 from 2 - 4pm and 7 to 9pm.
A Mass of The Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at St. Pauls Catholic Church on Lake Road, Congers, NY at 11am followed by a burial at Gethsemane Cemetery Rockland Lake.
Our Family is deeply grateful for the care she received from Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, Nyack Hospital and Hospice Care of Rockland County.

Caitlin Anne Martin is the thriving child of Martin, Margaret (MC1998) and neice of Finch, Bernadette Kelly (MC1995). Readers may remember her battle with pre-B ALL type leukemia from 2007 until 2010. Any way, I'm happy to report she is selling Girl Scout cookies and I bought some. This is one of my happier experiences with leukemia; only had two and the other didn't end well. So, I'm happy when I read stories like this on Facebook. (Even though our two fellow alums accuse me of trolling Facebook. What is a bored poor fat old white guy injineer to do but troll and live vicariously.)--30--

The Gooferment Skrules have done an excellent job of brainwashing the future Sheeple. Inserting the worship of Mother Earth and dependence upon Father State. From whom all good things flow. (Stolen from someone else!)
And, the Catholic Schools cooperated. And, the Catholic Church cooperated. And, Catholics cooperated.
The Church was always a counterbalance to the tyranny of the "King". Somehow, someway, sometime -- we lost that.
We need to recapture the disgust for this pagan way of life?
