(MC1990) 1:26 PM (19 hours ago) to nicole.bruck, Jasper How can a Catholic Institution take Christ out of Christmas? From a disappointed alumni. Neil T. O’Sullivan 1990 # - # - # [JR: Maybe the Labor Department is correct and it's no longer "catholic". BTW you're sending this to the original Ebenezer fan. "Bahh Humbug" is my personal seasonal greeting. Commercialized, De-Christ-ified, de-personalized, and has just been an excuse to eat to much, drink to much, and skip work to much. TV glorifies relatives getting together. But I'm not a fan and I'm sure they agree. It ain't all Norman Rockwell. I had a big argument with my local KofC council decades ago about having a Christmas Party and, departing from their usual tradition, inviting the poor from the Township to come party with us. Serve them food instead of us eating. Give their children presents instead of giving "our kids" morse stuff. And, having a "needs registration" tree where we tried to really hep people. Or at least, just listen and sympathize. You'd think I was ripping the food from their children's mouths. Needless to say they held the traditional party, and soon after I ended my association with those Pharisees. I hope you're more successful. I didn't buy the explanation of need to abbreviate. I think it's a look into their soul. But then I am Ebenezer, "Are there no workhouses?"] # - # - # - # - # 2012-Nov-28 @ 08:58 |

2011-12-01ENDNOTE: Jerks deserve ticketsI went into Seaside Heights and traffic was an orderly mess. Emergency traffic was directed to use the left lane; mundanes had the two right lanes. Mile or two of traffic. Couple hours to get in.As we got to the choke point, the cop stopped two people in the left lane and tossed then into the regular lane. Argh! Those deserved tickets. Disobeying a traffic control device (i.e., the many huge signs saying emergency priority traffic left lane only)!!! I'd have said: "License, registration, and insurance card. Pull over into the curb." And after writing them up, I'd have sent them on their way to the back of the line. How else will people learn to follow simple rules for an orderly society? Argh! # - # - # - # - # |
