I teach Sunday school (PRE) at a Catholic church. 2 teachers are assigned to every class. We are trained not to be alone with children. For example, at the end of class, when waiting for the parents to pick up their children, when only 1 child remained I ushered her into the hall and closed the classroom. We waited for her parents in the hall. The only time a child would be alone with a religious is during confession. These rules are similar to Boy Scout rules where 2 leaders must be present for any activity to go forward. The Boy Scouts have had very few problems over the years, so I think that this should protect children going forward into the future in the US.
