Utah Man Wants 'In God We Trust' In All Classrooms

*** begin quote ***

SALT LAKE CITY - If Oak Norton gets his way every Utah classroom will soon display a poster bearing a simple, patriotic message: ``In God We Trust.''

*** end quote ***

Yup that will solve all the problems. By the way, who is “we”? I don’t feel very “we-ish” today. I’m sure all my fellow alums will see immediately how this comment worthy this is. I look forward to “eddy-fication”.

Reflect well on our alma mater, this week, every week, in any and every way possible, large or small. God bless.

Operators of Legacy dot com claim “what problem”. You have to love the ability of support people to deny a problem in the face of an email thread which includes email from their own people saying we see a problem and are fixing it. To the Editor:

”As Unrest Rises, China Broadens Workers’ Rights” (front page, June 30) makes due note of American corporations’ opposition to these initiatives. If implemented, however, such basic worker protections would seem to constitute a hopeful sign for American workers, given a world economy characterized by rampant worker exploitation in China and elsewhere.

It’s no wonder American unions are active in China — from attempts to ”bore within” the official government union to advising dissident Chinese organizers.

Jun. 27–Add Arkansas State to the growing list of universities agreeing to scrap an ethnically offensive nickname.

A couple of weeks ago, ASU officials, bowing to NCAA pressure, reluctantly agreed to drop Indians and pursue another school mascot, joining Dartmouth, Stanford, St. John’s and Marquette among others that have junked Native American nicknames.

Then there are some Kansas high schools.

{Extraneous Deleted}

And what’s the deal with Manhattan? The home of Kansas State University was named after the famed borough of New York City that was purchased from Indians. That’s certainly no reason for Manhattan High to be known as the Indians. Manhattan College doesn’t use an Indian mascot. They’re the Jaspers. Jaspers??? Oh, well.

Curmudgeon's Final Words This Week

http://www.wpxi.com/news/13461865/detail.html

Sex Offenders Housed With Mentally Disabled
State
Aware Of Situation; No Law Against It
Karen Welles, Target 11 Investigator
POSTED: 2:23 pm EDT June 7, 2007
UPDATED: 5:49 pm EDT June 7, 2007

*** begin quote ***

PITTSBURGH -- A Target 11 investigation found over the past few years there have been at least five registered sex offenders living at the Green Acres Personal Care home in Rossiter, Indiana County

*** end quote ***

And, you expect the gooferment to protect people? There’s no law and no common sense.

At some point and time you have to ask what does the gooferment do well? I’m hard pressed for an answer.

In an alternate universe, the government would not be in the charity business. A private organization would “tin cup” the community and say we want to provide a group home for the mildly retarded. Every one would chip in a few bucks every year. AND, if they screwed up like this, poof no donations next year. Charities can be “fired”. What do you do with the gooferment, when it fouls up? Not pay.

Argh!

And that’s the last word.
