Dear
fellow Jasper,
Re:
"Jasper Jottings"
You're possibly
reading this for any one of a number of reasons. Perhaps, most likely, I was
unable to send you an email. Maybe it was "bounced", (returned to me
as undeliverable), by something beyond my control. Many ISP have controls in
place to prevent SPAM. The problem is they can't tell the difference between a
non-spam message like this one and real spam.
In any
event, I have taken the step of creating this page, and sending you just a link,
to what I wanted to say in an email message.
Please
excuse the intrusion, especially if you have been invited and / or have
unsubscribed in the past. I know I don’t keep very good records, but, it’s a
one-man unofficial part-time hobby.
Jasper
Jottings is ONE-EMAIL-PER-WEEK and FREE! In exchange for my efforts and my
occasional ranting, you get to a weekly feed of everything I hear about
Manhattan that week. You can see the recent issues at: http://www.jasperjottings.com/
To join
in, just send a message from your email account to
Distribute_Jasper_Jottings-subscribe@yahoogroups.com with your name and class
year. To exit, just send a message from your email account to
Distribute_Jasper_Jottings-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com saying why your leaving. The Yahoo group software will unsubscribe you
and give me your feedback. If you are really enraged, call me on 732-821-5850,
and I will remove you personally before the next distribution
It’s a
labor of love that has no connection to the College. Although
I do share my “stuff” with them.
Now the rest of the story.
I
started by track things that happen to mention Manhattan College. It was a neat
use of technology on Compuserve and the internet. I
tried to pass these things along to people I think would be interested. This
has evolved into a weekly electronic text message. While I am not as rabid a Jasper as others, I find it interesting to connect with
people who have had the
However,
not everyone has access to the web, nor the time to dabble in it, or -- as in
my case -- perhaps the memory to do it on a regular basis. This email invites
you to join my list. Each week I will put out ONE message with all the
jasper-related news I have found that week. You may see some one you know, or
an organization you're in, or just see something that makes you want to send a
note. When you've finished with message, you can just delete it. No cost,
minimal time, and nothing being sold! Just an attempt to
build a virtual jasper community. I have appended a sample week for you
to take a look at and decide. As a security officer in the brokerage industry,
I have taken all steps available to prevent it from being misused.
If you
are not sure you want to "join" at this time, then
feel free to "join" later. I started in late November '99 and have
been on a weekly schedule since then.
Regardless
if you join or not, should you have a significant event, or know of, a Jasper
making news, please feel free to send, email at http://public.2idi.com/=reinkefj or
reinkefj@alum.manhattan.edu,
it along and I will paste it into the following week's message. Who knows ...
maybe you can connect with a past classmate, help a fellow
jasper, or just enjoy the connection with people who have shared the Jasper
experience? I have!
Once
you subscribe, please keep an "eye out" for our email. If you do not
get your weekly message, it can be due to technical difficulties (usually at
your end). When the email "bounces", if you have kept in touch (i.e.
updated your contact information at the web site or sent it to me), then I will
contact you to let you know about the problem. If I don't have your latest
contact info, there is nothing I can do.
For
those of you that are into RSS, I have Jasper Jottings as a feed at http://www.feedyes.com/feed.php?f=3KNUXxDz2JdArs6b
and Jasper Jottings Sports at http://jasperjottings.blogspot.com/atom.xml.
If you decide to use these, you'll be invisible to me. (Maybe that's good?) I'd
appreciate your registering any way with the yahoo group so I can have an
accurate gauge of our readership. If you don't want the email, there is an
option to turn off all but special notices. Please select that.
Finally,
are you, or any of our fellow Jaspers are not receiving their free issues of
the alumni newsletter, The Manhattan; the biannual calendar of alumni events, McKit; or informational brochures of alumni events such as
the annual reunion, gold outings, basketball receptions, and religious retreats?
If so, please contact: Alumni Relations Office,
Best
wishes for your continued success,
F.
