POSITRACTION: The struggle for life is ennobling for all (imho)

Aspiring-makeup-artist-25-suffering-cystic-fibrosis-FINAL-set-lungs.html

Tiffany Senter (pictured) of Shasta Lake City, California is only 25, but she's been at deaths door twice.

  • Tiffany was born with cystic fibrosis and has had to have two lung transplants.
  • Shocking photos reveal her two pairs of black, disease-riddled lungs (inset).
  • Her body rejected the first pair of donor lungs that Tiffany received at 17 after four years.
  • Now, her Tiffany's body is rejecting the third set of lungs.
  • She will not be eligible for a rare, third, double lung transplant, but that hasn't stopped the resilient young woman from teaching herself to do makeup - including her signature Marilyn Monroe look (right) - which she plans to make a business of or from being un-endingly grateful for the two donors who have extended her life by over seven years.

Tiffany Senter is just 25, but she has already had three sets of lungs.

She was born with cystic fibrosis, a chronic genetic disease that causes sticky fluid to build up in several organs, including the pancreas, liver, kidneys and intestine.

But it is most devastating to the lungs, which the disease effectively drowns in this malfunctioning mucus.

By age 16, Tiffany was dying.

A lung transplant at 17 saved her life, but four years later her body rejected the new organs.

Tiffany got yet another shot at life, receiving a second pair of donor lungs at 23.

For now, Tiffany is breathing easier at last, but she still has to spend much of her time at the hospital, as cystic fibrosis has ravaged her other organs, too, and leaves her vulnerable to infections that could prove deadly.

But Tiffany keeps her spirits up, with a little help from her idol, Marilyn Monroe, fixing her hair and make up to match the late starlet's exactly - all from her hospital bed.

Even more than her Marilyn, Tiffany looks up to the two organ donors whose lungs have kept her alive this long, and simply hold onto hope that these lungs will keep working as doctors say they won't be able to give her another pair.

*** end quote ***

When the Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerk allows the killing of babies in and out of the womb, I see stories like this of a young woman who struggles to survive.

I pray she can do make up on a gazillion people in the time she has been allocated.

I wish that politicians and bureaucrats would take their “strange ideas” about life and abortion back to whatever Devil created hell hole they originated from,

I wish this young woman, and all that struggle for life, “bona fortuna”.  My prayers go with them.

There are people who move to Riverdale and stay because they love it. Then there’s John Edwards — who grew up in Riverdale, and could never imagine living in a better place.

At 6-foot-2, he was a giant in real estate in more ways than one. And as he brings his old real estate firm bearing his name back to life, Edwards is ready for his return to matchmaking buyers with their perfect homes.

“The keys to working in real estate is to be honest and hardworking, know your market, and know what you’re selling.”

And does Edwards know his market. He grew up attending P.S. 81 Robert J. Christen and later Riverdale/Kingsbridge Academy. He is an alum of Manhattan College. And outside of a few short stints in high school and college, he’s never ventured too far from Riverdale — even in a career that originally started first with basketball, and later modeling and acting.

For Joseph Passaro, a three-sport athlete who earned top accolades in each, including William Floyd’s 1978 “Outstanding Male Athlete” award, becoming one of this year’s William Floyd Athletic Hall of Famers “meant the world” to him.

“You’re not going to meet someone so adamant about sports as me,” said the retired Suffolk police officer, class of 1978, who played football, baseball and basketball.

Passaro was joined by three other former standout student-athletes, a world champion professional boxer, a league champion varsity baseball team and the local youth baseball league, Tri Hamlet Sports Club, in the district’s 12th class of Hall of Fame recipients.

Inductees were enshrined at a ceremony attended by more than 100 people in January at the high school.

The runner-turned-teacher

Ginine Duda with daughter, Kelsey Rae.

Ginine (Lucarello) Duda, class of 2002, not only went to Floyd, but also works for the district as a third-grade teacher at Moriches Elementary.

In fact, she found out she was being inducted into the Hall of Fame via interoffice mail.

“It was a nice surprise coming into work,” said Duda, 35, of Shirley. “I was a little taken back and overwhelmed.”

Duda was a dominant track and field and cross country athlete who won the Suffolk County “A” Cross Country Championship in 1999 and set numerous Floyd records. Her outdoor 1,500-meter record of 4:54 still stands.

She coached middle school track in the district, but has taken a break to spend time with her 14-month-old daughter, Kelsey Rae. She plans to coach again once her daughter is in school full time.

Of the Hall of Fame ceremony, Duda said, “It was really cool because they had the high school culinary run the program, and the food was amazing. And there were photo dropbacks like you were going to an awards show.”

Duda started in soccer and track in the seventh grade, but her coaches suggested she go in the direction of running, which led to cross-country.

“It’s a team sport. It’s not just about coming in first place, but beating your time.”

She said coaches would take her to special meets and made sure she was on top of her grades. And teachers would let her take tests on different days or give her extra time.

“I wouldn’t have been able to get a full ride to a college without track,” said the Manhattan College grad, who later went to St. Joseph’s College to earn a master’s. “That’s what led me to want to become a teacher. Because I had so many good role models with teachers.”

[JR: What a great idea!  In addition to learning, they’ll make a positive contribution to the modern day equivalent of the Library of Alexandria. Kudos to all; in what I hope becomes trend.]

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Colon, Philip J. (MC1962) prays for Ken

2019-Feb-23

Good Morning All,

I spoke with Madeline and got an update on Ken. He will be transferred this week ( may have already happened ) to one of the facilities more specifically set up to address his needs. His Physical Therapy is intense and Ken is anxious to take it to the next level. Those of you who have sent cards, they will be forwarded to Ken. It is difficult to keep this good man down and he will always do his best. As soon as Ken is settled at his new location, I will share that information with you. As Madeline has said, Ken would love to hear from you. Be aware that he will be reminding you of the Career Fair with which he has been such a driving force.(Smile). Please keep the volume up for Ken, for Madeline, they have been a wonderful team during these many changes. Madeline and Jim Bardmore have kept me updated so that I may be able to get back to you. Your prayers and good thoughts are so appreciated. A large thank you from Ken, Madeline and their Family. Thank you all. Thank you Jim. God Bless.

ENDNOTE: RIP the institutional “Catholic Church” in the USA?

Pope defrocks ex-cardinal Theodore McCarrick over abuse claims
Ex-archbishop of Washington DC is most senior figure to be removed from priesthood in modern times

*** begin quote ***

A former Roman Catholic archbishop and cardinal has been dismissed from the priesthood after the Vatican found him guilty of sexually abusing minors in a sign of an increasingly hardline stance taken by the church.

Theodore McCarrick, 88, one of the prominent figures in the church, was defrocked just days before an unprecedented global summit of bishops to discuss child sexual abuse is convened by the Vatican.

The Vatican’s move makes McCarrick the most senior figure to be removed from the priesthood in modern times. He will no longer be permitted to act as a cleric, and is forbidden to celebrate the sacraments except to grant absolution for sins to a person close to death. Only excommunication is a more severe punishment.

*** end quote ***

Is this the harbinger of the end of the institutional “Catholic Church” in the USA?

Stories abound about both the Vatican and local “Catholic Churches” with abuse and homosexuality.

I mourn the loss of the “Church” in civil society as a counter-balance to the Gooferment which wants to become the sheeple’s “god”.

Sorry but a lot of good people have been hurt by these “revelations”.
