POSITRACTION: "Captain Wiggle Wings’ aka Gail Halvorsen — a good man

'Captain Wiggle Wings’ – The U.S. Pilot Who Dropped Tons of Candy for Kids in Berlin After Fighting Their Country
By Good News Network-Jul 17, 2018

*** begin quote ***

70 years ago today, a US Air Force pilot went down in history as the man who started dropping candy with miniature parachutes – because every child deserves a sweet treat, even in times of war.

*** and ***

The next day on his approach to Berlin, he rocked the aircraft and dropped some chocolate bars attached to a handmade handkerchief parachute to the children waiting below. Every day after that, the number of children increased and he made several more drops. Soon, there was a stack of mail in Base Ops addressed to “Uncle Wiggly Wings”, “The Chocolate Uncle” and “The Chocolate Flier”.

When an officer heard about it, he immediately expanded it into “Operation Little Vittles”. Other pilots participated, and when news reached the US, children all over the country sent in their own candy to help out. Soon, major candy manufacturers joined in.

In the end, over twenty three tons of candy were dropped on Berlin during the airlift that kept that blockaded city alive and the operation became a major propaganda success.

*** end quote ***

What a “heroic” effort by one man.

Who knows how many children were “touched” by his generosity or the future efforts?

Little children are the casualties of war!

Argh!

COMMENT: Apoldo, Lou (MC1963) sees a silver lining in the endnote

2018-Jul-22

The Endnote story describing how Promiscuity is spreading the untreatable STI disease that makes women infertile fails to note the positive aspect of this phenomenon, which is that it eventually could wipe out Promiscuity.

THOMAS DONNELLY
Obituary

DONNELLY—Thomas Patrick. Age 82, died on June 19th, 2018, in Charlottesville, VA.

Son of the late Thomas and Margaret Donnelly, he leaves behind his adored wife, Joan; his sons Thomas, Keith, and Brian; six grandchildren; and his brother, Bill. He was preceded in death by his sister Joan.

Tom was a founding partner of Condon, O'Meara, McGinty & Donnelly, an accounting firm dedicated to serving many of the country's most respected foundations, public charities, and non-profit organizations. Prior to this, Tom was a senior partner at Pannell, Kerr, Forster in Manhattan.

He served with pride in the United States Army as a Combat Engineer, and graduated Manhattan College on the GI Bill.

But above all, Tom was a family man, ever willing to sacrifice professional gain to be a constant presence in the lives of his wife and children, and a connection point to his larger Irish family in the States and abroad.

A Memorial Mass will be held on July 28th at 11am at St. Thomas Aquinas University Parish, in Charlottesville, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Manhattan College Scholarship Fund in the name of Thomas P. Donnelly: giving@manhattan.edu. JOBIT: Kincaid, Andrew Bruce [MC1965 RIP] 2018-Jun-27

2018-Jul-25

https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/eastbaytimes/obituary.aspx
?n=andrew-bruce-kincaid&pid=189677380&fhid=2263

Andrew Bruce Kincaid
December 15, 1940 - June 27, 2018
Resident of Pleasanton

Andy Kincaid died after a valiant 5-year fight against multiple myeloma. He is survived by his loving wife Madeleine Kincaid and cherished son Andrew James Kincaid.

Andy was born and grew up in Flushing, NY where as a teenager, he met his future wife Maddie at the Purity Bakery where they both worked.

In 1964, shortly before completing his undergraduate degree at Manhattan College, Andy and Maddie were married at St. Andrews Catholic Church. The following year the young couple became a young family when they had their son Andrew!

With Andy's burgeoning career at Xerox Corporation, the family moved back and forth from New York to Texas two times. Their last move was to California. He commuted from here in Pleasanton, CA across the bay until 1999 when after 32 loyal years of employment, he retired from Xerox.

In retirement, Andy enjoyed his longtime love of fitness. He could be found riding his bike, leading hikes in the East Bay or running yet another marathon! He indulged in spirited conversations, reading current events and coffee with friends. Each evening, he looked forward to grilling meats and fish that Maddie prepared, all of which seemed to be his favorite! The two of them lovingly spent many hours in their beautiful garden, the bounty of which they shared with friends and family.

He also participated in local politics and was especially great at canvassing given his high level of fitness.
Even in serious discussions, Andy would add laughter and levity. With his broad perspective and quick wit, he was never far from a big laugh or rueful smile. Also, notably, Andy was extremely social and found something interesting in most anyone. He could connect and relate on many levels. Most of all, he would often help a shy or awkward person feel comfortable and welcome.

What was clear is that Andy participated to the fullest in all parts of his life and above all loved and was devoted to Maddie and Andrew.

Services for Andy will be held Saturday, July 28th with Visitation at 11:30 and a Memorial Service at 12:30 at Graham-Hitch Mortuary, 4167 First Street, Pleasanton CA 94566.

Episode 166: The "Democratic-Socialist" Deception
The Brion McClanahan Show
Jul 3, 8:00 am (33:18)

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's victory in a New York Democratic primary has made her the recent media darling of the Left. It has also brought the term "democratic-socialist" to the fore. She can't define it. The media can't define it. Stupidity runs in packs. So I define it for you and explain why it is nothing more than communism dressed up to be "reasonable." You won't want to miss this episode.

# - # - #

A “democratic-socialist” is nothing more than a communist in sheep’s clothing.

When will “We, The Sheeple” wake up?
