If he didn’t it seems that the toddler would have strangled to death or fell. The lesson here is “don’t leave children unsupervised” even for a minute. They’re to valuable and get into all sorts of trouble. How many picture of kids inside arcade machines do you need to see. Kudos to this fellow for his quick action. And, not without personal risk — he could have fell on his head or neck and been paralyzed for life. From the description, you couldn’t wait to “just” catch the child either. He taught at St. Teresa Catholic Grammar School in Sleepy Hollow, NY before teaching at Cornwall Middle School. Following his retirement, Mr. Gavin and his wife Cookie moved to Indian Trail, North Carolina.. They were members of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Charlotte. Henry was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. There he spent many years doing what he enjoyed most - coaching soccer, girls' basketball, and softball. Always enthusiastic to volunteer his expertise to improve youth opportunities and spend more time with his children, he was a member and chairman of the IHM Education Committee, Vice President of the IHM Athletic Association, and treasurer of the Crestview Recreation Association. He also coached soccer at the YMCA and coached the Ursuline Academy summer field hockey team. He leaves behind his wonderful and devoted best friend of forty-eight years, Judith Elizabeth, and their two lovely daughters whose accomplishments made him proud - Jennifer Elizabeth (Glen Wilson) who shares his optimism and commitment and Jillian Elizabeth who shares his scientific curiosity and logical problem-solving talent.
