POSITRACTION: Francis Kone Saves Player-Youtube

Watch Hero Soccer Player Save Opposing Goalie From Choking
by McKinley Corbley - Feb 27, 2017

*** begin quote ***

The Czech First League league game on Sunday may have ended in disaster if it weren’t for one of the team’s quick-thinking strikers saving an opposing player from choking to death.

During the first half of the 0-0 game, Bohemians 1905 goalkeeper Martin Berkovec accidentally ran smack into his teammate Daniel Krch, leaving them both injured.

Berkovec, however, was knocked unconscious and fell on his back.

While referees signaled medical officials onto the field, Slovacko striker Francis Kone didn’t hesitate jumping into action.

Kone climbed on top of Berkovec’s motionless body and pulled the goalie’s tongue out of his mouth. If Kone hadn’t acted so quickly, Berkovec would most likely have choked to death.

Save a life. The highest act of humanity?

All to often we seem to be unaware of our common humanity.

I, first realized that, when I heard a Secretary of State say the unbeleiveable.

"I think this is a very hard choice, but the price–we think the price is worth it." — Secretary of State Madeleine Albright on 60 Minutes (5/12/96)

Since then, I think about children, human life, and “wars” very differently.

Kudos to this man who forgot about the game and did a mitzvah.

Hope I get the chance and recognize that chance.

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Colon, Philip J. (MC1962) prays for Hal Moore

2017-Mar-06

Fw: Death of an American Hero and a Catholic one at that. Beau lives up the street from where he lived. His Wife, the UNSUNG HEOINE

Good Afternoon All,

Ed Riely shared the information above about a true hero being called home. The Beau that Ed refers to is Ed's Son, Himself an Active Duty LTC, United States Army, who has been in our prayers in the past and is doing well. Lt.General Retired, Hal Moore, is best known as Commander, 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment at the Battle of LaDrang, Vietnam. The movie, " We Were Soldiers " was about LTC Moore and his men, a riveting story. He was called home on February 10, 2017.

A couple of quotes from Lt.General Moore talk to the man he was'

" There is no such thing as closure for Soldiers who have survived a War. They have an Obligation, a Sacred Duty to remember those who fell in Battle beside them all their days and to bear witness to the Insanity that is War." Hal Moore

Another that he borrowed from Plato, "Only the Dead have seen the end of War." Hal Moore.

We pray for Lt.General Hal Moore, his Family and Friends and the many he touched in his life and those he has been reunited with in God's Eternal Embrace.

Thank you Ed. God Bless.

JNEWS: Whelan, Michael [MC2014] is the NJ LD11 Assembly candidate

Beck Announces Her Selected Assembly Candidates In LD 11

*** begin quote ***

Senator Jennifer Beck announced that she has selected Ocean Township Deputy Mayor Rob Acerra and Red Bank Councilman Michael Whelan as the Assembly candidates who will seek to unseat rookie Democrat Assembly members Eric Houghtaling and Joann Downey in the 11th legislative district this November.

*** and ***

Whelan, 25, single, is a 2014 graduate of Manhattan College and a 2010 graduate of Christian Brothers Academy. He is an Account Executive in the property and casualty insurance industry where he services commercial accounts and small businesses. He defeated long time incumbent Michael Dupont for a seat on the Red Bank Council in 2015.

The councilman said that in his 14 months on the Red Bank governing body, he has led the effort to tackle tough issues that had been lingering for many years without progress. He cited two parking plans the borough has implemented, a new redevelopment plan and an additional K-9 Officer for the Police Department.

“I take great pride in my ability to reach across the aisle and get things done for Monmouth County. Legislators discussed the possibility of dredging the Shark River for 20 years – that project is now nearing completion. I vocally opposed and organized the citizens’ opposition to New Jersey’s gasoline tax increase, starting a petition that garnered over 20,000 signatures and hosted rallies all over my district. Underfunded school districts are a problem across the State, I have been able to secure additional funds for Red Bank and Freehold Borough. My office has personally assisted hundreds of individuals after Superstorm Sandy who were looking for guidance in the rebuilding process. My office has worked in tandem with the numerous non profits created in the district to reach out to Sandy-effected homeowners and get them back in their homes.

Dear John,

I do not find anything in my ‘stuff’ for Jay, but do remember the stories that came out of 'Short Stop' from my younger family members.

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Colon, Philip J. (MC1962) prays for three

2017-Mar-11

Good Afternoon All,

I have a couple of Prayer Requests to share with you.

While in Norfolk, Virginia I met a young woman (24 years old) whose whole life was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. I met her as she was being informed that her job was being eliminated. A Faith filled person, Kelly said to me, "I am O'K with losing my job, I am recovering from Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma so I have been through a lot worse than losing my job, and God will not abandon me. This she shared after I told her I would place her on our prayer list. Kelly is currently waiting on her final test results to see if she is clear of her illness. She looked great, her spirit is greater and stronger than anyone can imagine and she welcomed her being part of our prayer group. We pray that she receives good news and that God continues to give her the strength to deal with her adversity. We pray for her Parents who have been so supportive.

Someone else that I met, Maria, who has just undergone a Knee replacement and was anxious about her recovery because she too had been told she was losing her job. We pray for her swift recovery free of complication.

I ask too for your prayers for Ellen, an old Friend of mine and wife of another of my oldest friends (high school classmate). Ellen has been struggling with a debilitating illness that the MDs have not wanted to operate because of her weakened condition, her breastplate is pressing upon her heart. I was told today that two weeks ago Ellen had a fall and broke her hip. She is recovering from a partial hip replacement. She is feeling frustrated but is recovering slowly.
Don, her husband was on our prayer list last May as he underwent open heart surgery. He is doing well. Please keep Ellen in your prayers.

Our Son Scott thanks you for your prayers. He still has intense pain from time to time as he does his Physical Therapy but he too is healing well.

Thank you all. God Bless.

ENDNOTE: Notre Dame is tested?

2017-Mar-11

FROM CATHOLIC VOTE

*** begin quote ***

Dear CV Friend,

Do you remember March 20, 2009?

That was the day the University of Notre Dame announced they would honor newly-elected President Obama as their Commencement speaker.

Under intense pressure, Notre Dame President Fr. John Jenkins called the invitation a “catalyst for dialogue.” He noted that Presidents of both political parties had spoken in the past, and that the invitation was in no way an endorsement of President Obama’s well known hostility to Catholic teaching on the sanctity of life.

Will Notre Dame continue their tradition and invite President Trump?

*** end quote ***

I doubt it and that’s what will expose what’s wrong with “Catholic” institutions.

We’ll see.

Update: CV reports that ND didn’t invite DJT45, but did invite the VP. Does that tell you anything.
