POSITRACTION: Abused Dogs can fix convicts?

2016-Mar-06

Give a Prisoner an Abused Dog and WATCH What Happens, Karmic Connection
by Terry Turner - Feb 19, 2016

*** begin quote ***

A Prison inmate can connect with an abused dog probably better than anyone. A new documentary shows firsthand how this connection can change two lives at the same time, and proves “nothing is impossible” when it comes to redemption.

“Dogs on the Inside” explores a Massachusetts program in which stray or wild dogs are given a second chance at life behind barbed wire as minimum security prison inmates foster them–and in the process, improve their own situations.

*** end quote ***

We know that Vets are helped with PTSD by service dogs.

So, maybe this is a way to “fix” human beings.

Clearly, we need to find new and innovative ways to “repair” human beings.

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Colon, Philip J. (MC1962) prays for Billy

2016-Mar-06

Good Afternoon All,

I ask for your prayers for my Son Scott's High School Classmates and Good Friend, Billy Diele. Billy was called home this past week, visitation last evening and Mass of Christian Burial today. We knew Billy and his Parents. Billy, a fine young man, full of spirit and with a ready smile that would make one smile. We know his parents, his Wife and Sons and friends are deeply grieving and Billy will be missed by all. Please keep Billy, his Family and Friends in your prayers as we pray that they find peace in knowing that Billy is at rest in God's Embrace. My Daughter in law shared the following in telling Peggy and I of Billy's death. Thank you. God Bless.

I hope you guys are well. I'm sorry to email you with sad news....

This morning, Scott learned that his friend Billy Diele passed away a few days ago. He saw the news on Facebook and, as expected, is very upset so he asked me to let you guys know.

He learned the news with just enough time to possibly attend one or both (the wake/funeral) tonight or tomorrow.

With every death, the scars on our heart are re-opened. I never got the chance to meet Billy personally but know he was a great guy through all of the stories I've overheard you all tell. His passing is a bittersweet reminder of how precious life is, how to not take things for granted, and to live each day with a genuine heart. We know all too well (especially recently) that so many are taken so soon. I have faith that they are guardian angels for those of us still down here.

Love you guys.

Talk soon,

Melissa

2016-Mar-06

Good Afternoon All,

Lisa Toscano has just shared the sad news of the death of Mrs. Delaney this morning. Mrs. Delaney, Tom and their Family have been in our prayers as they sat vigil over Mrs. Delaney as her being called home was a matter of time. It is difficult under any circumstance to lose a loved one. We pray that the Delaneys and their Families find solace in the certain knowledge that this devout woman has been welcomed into the Kingdom Of Heaven and is at rest in God's Eternal Embrace. She will be smiling down upon her Children and Grandchildren. The Family, though greatly saddened, are thankful that she was such a major part of their lives. She is at rest. Thank you. God Bless.

Howard ‘Bud’ Kelly, 1925-2016

By The Family on March 8, 2016
in Latest, Lead News, News, Obituaries

Soldier, Hero, Athlete, Writer, Husband to the late Nancy Wilson Kelly (longtime Ridgefield Elementary school teacher), beloved Father to Kimberly and Kerry Kelly and beloved Grandfather to Matthew, Thomas, and James Sara.

Howard Kelly was born in NYC and later moved, with his family, to Rowayton, Conn. He joined the Marine Corps at age 18. After his service in WWII he went on to graduate from Manhattan College all the while playing baseball for the Marine Corps, Manhattan College, and went on to become a professional baseball player batting .407 for a season at Cornwall Ontario Ball Park. Known as “Home run Howie,” he held the record for the farthest homerun ever hit at the Cornwall park.

After his baseball career “Bud” and Nancy moved to Ridgefield, to start their family. Howard went on to become a sports writer, newspaper editor, and then magazine editor. Howard J. Kelly Jr. will be laid to rest at The Arlington National Cemetery in late spring.

Howard, “Bud,” Dad, Gramps, was not only what we called “a walking encyclopedia,” but anyone who knew him is well aware of his truly unique, “dry Irish,” sense of humor. He had a gentle soul and a loving, generous heart.

He was deeply loved by his family and will be missed beyond measure.

2016-Mar-09

Good Evening All,

I ask for your prayers for a friend of Melissa, my Daughter-in-Law. Kelly Fanning was a friend from Melissa's Dance School years. As Melissa shared, Kelly was someone she always looked up to. " Kelly had an essence about her on stage that was infectious and inspiring. .....I will think about the good times." She was called home at the age of 37, a beautiful young woman, neither a Wife nor a Mother but a great Aunt to her two Nephews. We pray for the repose of the soul of this young woman and her Family. We pray that she is now at peace in God's Eternal Embrace. Thank you. God Bless.

“I am so so so glad I did New Visions my senior year of high school!” Burns said recently via e-mail. “This current semester I am only taking three class, plus an internship for credit, because I came into college with so many credits, thanks to New Visions.”

Burns, a broadcasting major at Manhattan College, earned nine college credits through the New Visions program. Although New Visions isn’t just about journalism – the program has since changed its name to New Visions: Multimedia and Digital Communications – it exposes students to careers in print, digital and broadcast journalism while also training them in video editing, public relations and social media marketing.

With her experience writing for the Times Union’s High School blog, Burns felt confident enough to join the Manhattan College newspaper The Quadrangle where she is currently the Arts & Entertainment Editor. Burns credits her newspaper experience with helping her land the production internship at ET/ The Insider.

I recognize “attendees” on the theory “if it’s important to some to mention in an obit, then we can spare a few prayers". Perhaps, the time at MC was both formative and important to our comrade. And, imho, WW2 interrupted many plans. A good many went to never came back and maybe those that did had new priorities. Here’s one of those “interrupted” ones; very interesting. Personally, I’m “jealous”; he “got” Japanese — much more useful than my Thai assignment. Laugh!]

2016-Mar-11

http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/denverpost/obituary.aspx?n=Harry-Charles-Hall&pid=178008047

Harry Charles Hall
Obituary

Born in Pittsfield, MA, Harry Charles Hall grew up poor but resourceful in Brooklyn, N.Y. He earned a scholarship to a Catholic high school, joined the Navy and then went to Manhattan College on the GI bill. While a student he worked as a soda jerk to support himself and at the counter he met his to-be-wife Pauline Greeley, who had moved to the Big City from White Plains. They married in August of 1951 with the first of their six children - Candice, Susan, Melinda, Stacy, Tracy, and Troy - arriving the next year.

Harry, ever hard working, pursued a personnel career with a succession of multi-national firms, moving his growing family from New York, to Indonesia, to California, to Belgium, to Rhode Island and finally to New Jersey. After he and Pauline retired to Denver, Harry served as a president of Trout Unlimited, as a Roxborough Park ranger and as a board member on The Preserve homeowners' association; he built trails, taught driving safety classes, and helped Pauline with her doll shop. They traveled widely, visiting the world, even Patagonia for fishing, and their dozen grandchildren - Jef, Thea, Tore, David, Kyle, Brede, Charlotte, Amy, Dana, Martin, Maja and Patrick - until Pauline's death in 2009.

Greenwood Village formally declared a Harry Hall Day in thanks for his civic engagement. Harry married Sue Shulman, now Sue M. Hall, originally from Missouri, in February 2012. They moved to Holly Creek where he took up watercolor and poetry, joined a book group and assisted neighbors whose mobility was more limited than his. Like most quiet people, he had the sharpest wit in the room and the kindest heart. Harry cared very, very much about his family, his friends, and those whom he met in his travels.

His children and grandchildren are honored by the legacy of his 88 years well lived.

Dear John,

Here is the Obituary for Tom Kelleher, an honorary member of the Manhattan College Class of 1953, and my good friend, and that of many of our classmates, since our Freshman Year in 1949.

who needed a ride. At the Businessmen’s Ball he brought the makings of Brandy Alexanders for he and his date Pat. After graduation they never missed our Class Reunions or other Social Events.

He will be missed.

As students all know professors work extremely hard to bring us new and exciting lessons every semester. While teaching classes and conducting certain events on campus, they still find the time to work on other projects that further enrich themselves in the world of the performing arts inside and outside of the college.

Notre Dame has announced that it will bestow its 2016 Laetare Medal, the “oldest and most prestigious honor accorded to American Catholics,” on pro-abortion Vice President Joe Biden. This time, however, the offense is even greater: a pro-abortion Catholic politician is being honored as one “whose genius has ennobled the arts and sciences, illustrated the ideals of the Church [emphasis added] and enriched the heritage of humanity.”

Now how can Holy Mother Church tolerate such conduct from what is probably the college that most people identify as “Catholic”?

I already have enough trouble with pedophile religious, “social justice”, and the other Communist political correctness thrown around.

This takes the cake.
