Fremont Teen Returns Wallet With $2,300 In Cash
September 4, 2015 12:01 AM
Andria Borba

*** begin quote ***

FREMONT (KPIX 5) – Despite not having enough cash to buy lunch, a Fremont teenager who found more than $2,000 in a wallet this week didn’t think twice and returned the money to its rightful owner.

It was on Tuesday when Irvington High seniorTommy O’Connor, walked to the 7-Eleven across the street to get a soda for himself and his brother, when he found a wallet on the ground.

Tommy recalled, “It was like a bunch of hundreds.”

The wallet had 23 $100 bills.

*** end quote ***

That’s a lot of temptation to overcome.

I’m not sure I could do it.

But, it’s great to see the inner character of some people.

Hope all my temptations are tiny; to match my abilities.

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Colon, Philip J. (MC1962) prays for Sylvia

2015-Sep-13

Good Evening All,

As our Jewish Brethern begin to celebrate their High Holy Days and and we pray for their well being and God's Grace upon them, I ask for your prayers for Mrs. Sylvia Blumenthal, Mother of a friend and colleague of mine, Deborah Blumenthal. Many of the Testament Stories of the Jews resonated with me. Deborah helped me to better know the meaning of one or two of my Favorites. Mrs. Blumenthal passed away a year ago and had I been aware of it, Sylvia would have been in our prayers at that time but Deborah and I have not been in touch until recently. I ask that we remember in our prayers, Sylvia, good woman that I know she was, as we pray too for Deborah and her Family that the pain they still feel at her loss be mitigated by the memory of her life and love and the beauty of Sylvia having shared her life with her Children and Family. Thank you. God Bless.

*** begin quote ***

Monsignor Peter Finn says it's hard to believe he's spent half a century as a priest.

"It seems like yesterday, to be truthful. I can't believe that it's 50 years. I like to think I'm younger than Springtime, and looking forward, not back," said Msgr. Peter Finn.

Msgr. Finn marked the occasion Sunday at Blessed Sacrament Church, where he's been pastor for the last 8 years.

"It was beautiful. It was very moving and touching and um, just a reflection of how loved he is," shared Darlene Vigliotti, Secretary and Parishioner at Blessed Sacrament Church.

*** and ***

Msgr. Finn was born in Tompkinsville and went to St. Peter's Boys High School before heading off to Manhattan College.

It was at St. Joseph's Seminary where he started his journey as a man of the cloth, graduating in 1965.

Aqua America (WTR) Appoints New Deputy COO

September 15, 2015 9:31 AM EDT

Aqua America (NYSE: WTR) President and CEO Christopher Franklin announced the promotion of Colleen Arnold to the position of deputy COO from manager of water quality and environmental compliance.

As deputy COO, Arnold will report directly to Chief Operating Officer (COO) Rick Fox and assist him in the management of all of the company’ regulated operations including network distribution, production, engineering water quality and environmental compliance throughout all eight states.

“Colleen brings a great blend of traditional operations management experience coupled with an extraordinary background and education in water quality, which is the primary focus of what we do,” said Franklin. “Whether we are delivering tap water to our customers or returning treated wastewater to the environment, the bottom line of it all is quality.”

“Colleen has more than 20 years of experience in environmental engineering and is uniquely qualified for this new role at Aqua. In addition to her years at Aqua, she also worked as a utility director for a municipal system and as a consultant with two top-tier firms, always with a focus on water and wastewater operations,” said COO Rick Fox. “On top of the routine responsibilities of her previous management positions, Colleen organized and oversaw Aqua’s Compliance Assurance Program, to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, and permits for all Aqua operations and established an asset management framework and implementation of a work order management system for the City of Wilmington's water distribution network. I look forward to her leadership and expertise in guiding our utility operations.”

Arnold joined Aqua first in 2007 as manager of treatment and water quality at Aqua Pennsylvania following nine years of varied experience working for consulting firms, for which she provide services to water and wastewater utilities in New York City, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Arizona. She left the company in 2009 to accept the position of assistant director of the City of Wilmington’s (Delaware) water division, and returned to Aqua America in 2013 in her most recent position of manager of water quality and environmental compliance.

Arnold, a licensed professional engineer in Delaware, earned her B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Massachusetts and her M.S. in environmental engineering from Manhattan College.

Her professional memberships include the American Water Works Association for which she is chairman and trustee for its Distribution and Plant Operations Division; the American Water Resources Association and the Water Environment Federation.

Her honors include being the 1998 Thomas R. Camp Scholarship Winner; the 1993 Stearns & Wheeler Environmental Engineering & Science Award; membership in the Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering National Honor Society and the Tau Beta Pi Engineering National Honor Society; and being named Outstanding Women Engineer of the Year 1992 by the Society of Women Engineers.

PRAYERSREQUESTED: Peter Gallaher (MC1965) prays for Tim

2015-Sep-15

FROM FACEBOOK

Peter Gallaher (MC1965)

*** begin quote ***

My brother Tom had a good day yesterday, awake, alert and interested in what was going on. The nurse came by for a long visit and said she wished she could have stayed longer, she was having so much fun. While none of us has forgotten he's dying, he's still living. He has been drinking more water, and even ate some of the strained pears I got him. Our sister does the sisterly stuff, and treats him (and me) to healthy doses of our trademarked familial sarcasm.

We have slipped back, the three of us, into our decades old routine of love. It's a beautiful thing, I think.

I kept thinking as we sat around yesterday, of a play, by O'Niell, or Chekov, or Ford, or someone....just the three of us in the little house, and our talk, each act punctuated by his naps during the day, and the occasional visitor: the Landlady, a lovely person, the Nurse, and the ghosts of our parents like a Greek Chorus.

I would add, in the last act, the Priest, who comes, visits with us all for awhile, and then he and Tom go into his room together. Stephanie and I sit quietly for a while.

I don't know whether that should be the curtain...or if she should say, "I think I'll do the dishes as the lights slowly dim.

Of your kindness, pray for my brother, Tom Gallaher.

If you know him, you love him. If you knew him, you would love him.

ENDNOTE: High School Fighting is a symptom of societal breakdown

2015-Sep-20

Parents Stunned by Video of ‘Out of Control’ High School Fight That Sent Houston Campus Officer to the Hospital

Sep. 10, 2015 10:34amDave Urbanski

*** begin quote ***

The Houston school district officer’s injury landed him in the hospital, KTRK-TV reported.

Parents who watched the video were stunned.

“It’s everywhere, it’s everywhere,” Vernon Johnson told KTRK. “It’s like just one fight and then more, more, more.”

“Yes, it’s out of control,” another parent told the station.

The Houston school district told KTRK that one Bellaire student was charged with resisting arrest. The incident followed a brawl between four girls at another Houston school, Cypress Lakes, just last week.

*** end quote ***

The news reporter called them “four young ladies”.

Is he kidding?

Out of control thugs would be more like it.

I’m sure the taxpayers are thrilled to be paying for this.

Gooferment Skrules are really training grounds for Gooferment prisons.

Argh!
