reaction of travel problems on her Delta flight from Vancouver,
British Columbia, to a business meeting in California. Thomas
faced delays and a diverted flight that landed in Portland,
Oregon, before returning to Seattle for an unplanned overnight
stay there.
The next morning, she got bumped from her rescheduled flight.
Delta ticket agents couldn’t get her on another flight until the
following day — too late to make her meeting. If that wasn’t
complicated enough, a ticket glitch charged Thomas a second time
for her rescheduled flight. It left her with no money and no
ticket to get home.
That’s when Judy, working at the Alaskan Airlines counter, decided
to help. She pulled out her own credit card and paid for a ticket
to get Thomas back to Vancouver.
“She didn’t know me at all,” Thomas told News1130 in Vancouver.
But the goodwill didn’t stop at the ticket counter. Thomas says,
“I was sitting up at the gate waiting for the flight and she came
by asking me how I was and offered me money for coffee.”

Chuck Adams' Secret Recipe for Muppet PC Boards (and lots of other homebrew tips)

A few days ago I shared an e-mail from John N8RVE on his re-build of the SW-40. John used a "Muppet" board, Muppet being a combination of Manhattan and Ugly techniques. But there is nothing ugly about it really. I joked in the title of the blog post that the beauty of this technique is almost enough to get a homebrewer to abandon the Manhattan technique. Now, I was born on Manhattan island, and I went to Manhattan College, and I have been using the Manhattan technique for many years, so there is a lot of homebrew inertia at work here. But that SW-40 looked good. John mentioned that Chuck Adams K7QO has a series of YouTube videos on how to make Muppet boards. This morning as I waited for the bands to open up, I decided to take a look.

2015-Apr-05Good Afternoon All,
An update on Nancy Maksomski' Family and and a couple of prayer requests.
Nancy's Dad, Dave, continues to do better and has even gotten back to doing some of his old stuff. A prayer of thanks would notbe remiss. Nancy's Mom is struggling with a major back issue that needs a very long and complicated surgery also requiring a nine month recovery period. We pray that whatever the decision, the MDs resolve the problem with as little invasive surgery as possible but that either way, Mrs. Maksomski's recovery is complete with no complications.
Nancy has asked for our prayers for a close Family Friend, Sr. Marcella Sullivan.
Sr. Marcella was just diagnosed with liver cancer. She has been given 3-6 months to live. Sister like many of the Presentation Sisters received a degree from Manhattan College in 1954. She taught the poor in New Orleans for many years and then in the 80's became a nurse and worked as a Pastoral Minister in Westchester County. She then served in her Community for many years. Please keep Sr. Marcella in your prayers as we pray not only for a recovery but that if that is not to be, we pray that the end of this good woman's journey be peaceful for her, her Family, Friends and Community. FLEISCHMANNS — Angelo J. Pinto, 85, died Friday, April 3, 2015, at his residence.
Angelo was born April 30, 1929, at Queens, the son of Vito and Vincenza (Rutigliano) Pinto.
He married Nancy Ciraldo on Sept. 18, 1955, in Bronx.
Angelo served his country as a member of the United States Army from Jan. 12, 1951 to Dec. 29, 1952.
He was a talented wood maker and owned and operated the MAR Cabinet and Wood making business in the Bronx.
He also was employed by Manhattan College as physical plant supervisor.
Angelo enjoyed hunting and moved to Fleischmanns in 2008 to enjoy that sport.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Pinto; two daughters and their spouses, Toni Ann and Paul Egan and Lisa and Dan LeMontagne; five grandsons; and two sisters, Marie and Theresa.

Obituary
Louise Carosi Doyle, 54, of White Plains, passed away April 5, 2015. Louise was born March 7, 1961 in the Bronx to E. Giulio and Lorraine (Micillo) Carosi. On October 22, 1988 she married Michael G. Doyle in White Plains. He predeceased her in 2010.
Louise is a graduate engineer of Villanova University and has a Master's Degree in Engineering from Manhattan College. She is a Licensed Professional Engineer and strong supporter of the profession, serving many positions with the National Society of Professional Engineers, the New York Chapter of Professional Engineers (President in 2010-2011). She worked for Westchester County for over 29 years, in both the Health Department and Department of Environmental Facilities as a Program Administrator.
At home Louise was proud of her flower and vegetable gardening, enjoyed golfing in the afternoon with friends and colleagues. She is most proud of her two sons, David and Brian. Louise was inspirational to all as she lived strongly with cancer.
Louise is survived by her parents E. Giulio and Lorraine, her sons, David M. Doyle of Metairie, LA and Brian Joseph Doyle of White Plains, her brother Victor G. Carosi and wife Nella, and sisters, Catherine Bologna and husband John and Barbara Berardi and husband Matthew.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to with the American Cancer Society or Gilda's Club Westchester.
Visiting hours are Thursday 4-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday 10am at St. John the Evangelist Church. Interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

William Donald Nyland, age 85, died after a short illness in New York City on April 5, 2015.
A long time resident of Bronxville NY and Dunedin, FL. Don was born in the Bronx to Thomas and Margaret Nyland. He was educated at Our Lady of the Assumption School, Cardinal Hayes High School, Manhattan College and NYU Law School.
After serving in the Coast Guard, Don worked as an attorney for over 50 years, specializing in the field of trusts and estates.
In 1953 Don married his sweetheart Dorothy Shea, also from the Bronx. They were married for almost 59 years until Dorothy's death in 2012.
Don is survived by his 3 daughters: Jeanne Doran (Lloyd) of Yonkers, Marianne Nyland of Bronxville, and Claire McGarvey (Michael) of Yonkers. Don (Poppy) was adored by his 5 grandchildren: Caitlin McGarvey, Brendan Doran, Julia McGarvey, Kevin McGarvey and Liam Nyland.
In addition to his parents, Don was predeceased by his brothers Thomas and Eugene.
Don was a Past President and member of Leewood Golf Club for over 50 years. Don loved traveling but most especially to Ireland. He was a giant in size and heart. He will be missed by all for his generosity and warmth.
A wake will be held at Fred H. McGrath & Son, Funeral Home,, Bronxville, on Friday, April 10 from 2-4 and 6-9PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Annunciation Church, Crestwood, on Saturday, April 11 at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Cardinal Hayes High School, c/o Fr. Joseph Tierney, President, 650 Grand Concourse, Bronx, NY 10451.

Heimall, 25, the popular play-by-play man for Manhattan College basketball, is used to spending his winters sitting courtside at Draddy Gym, calling the game action and doing post-game interviews with Jaspers head coach Steve Masiello and the players he now considers his family.
But this winter didn’t exactly go according to Heimall’s game plan. A persistent sore throat in October that he could never shake eventually led to an appointment with a throat specialist and a date that will be forever seared into Heimall’s memory. It was Dec. 9, 2014.
“He takes one look at the back of my throat within three minutes he sits down and says, ‘You have Lymphoma.’” Heimall said from his hospital bed. A tumor was growing on his tonsil and he needed to have emergency surgery and begin treatment.

HUIE, Robert E. 85, of Sudbury passed away peacefully Tuesday April 7 surrounded by his children.
Mr. Huie was born on October 27, 1929 in Saugerties, New York, the son of the late Irving and Irene Huie. He was raised in New York. After graduating from Manhattan College in 1951, Mr. Huie went to work at Perini Corp where he went on to spend his entire career.
Beloved husband of the late Janet Huie. Devoted father of Bruce Kin Huie of San Francisco CA, Robert T. Huie and his wife Bernice of Fayetteville GA, Kathleen Trahan and her husband Christopher of San Jose CA, Karen Huie of Gloucester, Nanci Ryder and her husband Scott of Wellington FL, Douglas Huie of Sudbury, and Ellen Huie of Providence RI.
Loving grandfather of 11, and the brother of the late Irving Huie.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A devout Catholic he was a communicant of St Bridget 's Parish in Maynard and active in various committees at the church.
He loved swimming and spending time with his family.
A U.S. Navy Vet Korean War, and member of The Moles.
Funeral Monday April 13 at 10 AM from the Duckett - J.S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Rd. (Rt. 20) SUDBURY, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 o'clock at St. Bridget Church, 1 Percival St., Maynard. Interment St. Bridget Cemetery, Maynard. Visiting hours Sunday from 4 to 6 PM.

The issue gained attention following revelations that Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton and Republican Jeb Bush used personal email addresses to conduct government business. Both are potential candidates for president in 2016.
"Events over the past month underscore the need to maintain transparent record keeping procedures for executive branch employees," said Rep. Peter Roskam, R-Ill. "IRS personnel should never use personal email addresses when conducting official government businesses, especially those who routinely handle sensitive taxpayer information."

Sorry, but any place I have ever worked INSISTED that company business be transacted on company systems.
If you, for some reason, need to use a different personal email (i.e., the corporate system was unavailable then copying you official account sufficed) and they reserved the right to inspect personal accounts used in this way.
Why did the politicians and bureaucrats NOT use the approved email?
Obviously, they were CONSPIRING to hide information from their “supervisors”.
Why are there indictments and investigations?
Politics.
