POSITRACTION: Cat Finds Owner In Nursing Home

Cat Finds Owner Weeks After Being Sent To Nursing Home
Cherise Udell

*** begin quote ***

Cats are renown for finding their way back home even when separated by busy roads, rivers and hundreds of miles, but what is doubly remarkable about this story of feline tenacity is that the owner moved to a new home, an assisted care facility called Bramley House, and the cat still found her!

According to Dorking and Leatherhead Advertiser, a local English newspaper, a few months ago when Nancy Cowen was moved by her family to the Bramley House, she was forced to leave behind her big grey and white fluffy feline, Cleo, whom she had rescued as stray eight years earlier. Nancy’s neighbors were happy to take Cleo, but it appears the cat was definitely not okay with this plan.

*** end quote ***

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”

The abilities of this cat are uncanny.

One has to wonder about the Grand Design that makes this possible.

Are we humans so egotistical to think that we “know it all”?

I read this story and just was in awe of the possibilities.

Feeling so enthused, I figured it was good to share.

If someone is playing a “practical” on us, then they got me good.

Seventh-Graders Meet Local Veterans at Terrill Middle School

SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- Seventh-grade students at Terrill Middle School learned about the service of five local military veterans who came to discuss their experiences as part of the school's Veterans Day observations on Monday.

*** and ***

Joe McCourt was the lone Viet Nam veteran among the guest speakers.  Born in Brooklyn, he graduated from Manhattan College in 1967, "the height of the Viet Nam War. McCourt, whose father and uncles had served in World War II, said he felt an obligation to serve.

"When I was in college I had a student deferment, and upon graduation, I had draft eligible status.  So I enlisted in Officer Candidate School and trained at Fort Dix in New Jersey and at Fort Benning in Georgia," said McCourt, who 24 years old by the time he got to Vietnam.

"I was an Infantry Platoon leader. If you have seen the movie Forrest Gump, I was Lt. Dan old man," McCourt explained. "Our job was to go out and engage the enemy. We had the camaraderie of going through life and death situations together. It was a life changing experience."

Good Morning All,

From Mike McEneney, our prayers are requested for two friends of Mike's. As Mike says, these two good men are of an age and need our prayers. Duncan M. And Donald S. Have fallen and are in Hospital. Please keep them in your prayers as we pray for recovery and quick return to their homes. Thank you. God Bless.

Good Morning All,

Bob and Noreen Mattis ask for our prayers for a very special friend of theirs, Liz Lawrence. Liz has been given a preliminary Diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer with Liver Metastasis. Liz has had Biopsies performed to confirm and is waiting for the results. Bob and Noreen know Liz since High School and it was she that introduced them 50 plus years ago. Please raise the volume for this dear friend as we pray that God in His Mercy brings Liz safely through this challenge. Thank you. God Bless.

Good Morning All,

John Reinke, Jasper Jottings, asks for our prayers for his cousin's Son-in-Law. Ed, who has been in our prayers before, is back in Hospital. He may be in need of another Catherization. Ed, over these past months, has had more than his share of rough road. As John says, " prayer, good thoughts or just a kind word with one's favorite Saint, will be appreciated by Ed's Family." Please keep Ed and his Family in your prayers. Thank you. God Bless.

My dad was indeed was a proud Jasper. Thank you so much for your prayers and thoughts. He was originally recruited as basketball player, but came back and finished on the GI Bill. We are proud of our Manhattan ties where my father's beliefs of compassion, intellectual nurturing, and sound business practices were formed and enhanced.

Falvella, John Robert [MC???? RIP]

[JR: Thanks so much for updating the record. The story didn’t mention that he came back and finished. I always try to credit the “attendees” because they have such great stories. This one is even better for the correction. I’m sorry for you loss and his “lost decade”. He certainly deserved to enjoy every minute of it. It’s certainly an insidious disease and thief. I’ll pass this on for inclusion in the annual Alumni Mass of Remembrance. Dona Nobis Pacem!]

N.Y., Washington labor leader John Falvella, was 73
February 16th by admin

John Robert Falvella, the father of the Irish Echo’s Washington correspondent, Susan Falvella-Garraty, died of pneumonia at Brooke Grove nursing home in Sandy Spring, Md., late Thursday evening. He was 73 years old.

Mr. Falvella was husband to the former Mary Helen McElligott. They were married for 47 years. Both were from New York.

Mr. Falvella distinguished himself as a scholar at an early age. He graduated with honors from St. Nicholas of Tolentine High School in the Bronx. He received a scholarship to Manhattan College in Riverdale, but World War II interrupted his freshman year. Mr. Falvella entered the Marines and served with distinction in the Pacific Theater. He was promoted to staff sergeant before returning to his studies. He received a Bachelor of Arts with high honors in 1950.

After working as an insurance underwriter for several years, Mr. Falvella launched a successful career in labor relations in New York City. He guided Fuller Construction Company, one of the largest construction companies in the United States, through the building boom in the 1960s as they completed such diverse projects as the Twin Towers, the Lincoln Center, and underground nuclear missile sites in Nevada.

In 1974, Mr. Falvella moved his wife and family — daughters Cathy and Susan and son John — to the Washington area. He helped design and then manage one of organized labor’s most innovative programs. The Stabilization Agreement of the Sheet Metal Industry or SASMI was designed to assist workers not just when unemployed but when underemployed. By coordinating contributions from both Sheet Metal workers and their employers, SASMI could help move workers to where work was available on a temporary basis.

Mr. Falvella promoted the fund’s growth from a few thousand to several million dollars. Mr. Falvella retired from SASMI in 1990. He and his wife enjoyed winters at their condominium in Highland Beach, Fla., and summers in the Manor Country Club community in Rockville, Md., until Alzheimer’s Disease began a terrible encroachment on both his memory and abilities.

Throughout his later years, Mr. Falvella greatly enjoyed the company of his seven grandchildren. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick’s Parish.

Mr. Falvella was the son of Joseph Falvella of New York and Mary Burke whose family came from Cork. He is survived by his wife, Mary; children Cathy Falvella, John Falvella, and Susan Falvella-Garraty, and grandchildren Thomas, Katie, John, Joseph, Bridget, Timmy and Jack.

JNEWS: Huvane, James [MC1956] sergeant’s path to the priesthood

A sergeant’s path to the priesthood
February 16th by admin
By Harry Keaney

*** begin quote ***

An Irish American cop was collared in St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York before Christmas.

On Dec. 19, Cardinal John O’Connor ordained James Huvane, a 36-year NYPD veteran, who swapped the blue of New York’s finest for the black of the Catholic priesthood.

At Huvane’s age, most people would be thinking about retirement. Instead, the 64-year-old former sergeant is about to embark on a new career, armed no longer with his shield and standard police-issue firearm but with a maturity, a humility and a faith honed by a lifetime of trials and tribulations.

In his clerical garb, a Celtic Cross adorning the left lapel of his jacket, it is difficult to imagine the soft-spoken Fr. Huvane as a hard-charging cop in the rough and tumble of the world’s largest police department. But, according to friends and acquaintances, it was Sgt. Huvane’s gentle side that set him apart amid the harshness of the circumstances he often encountered as a police officer.

*** and ***

Last week at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Dunwoodie, where he completed his studies for the priesthood, Fr. Huvane exuded peace and contentment with his decision to become a priest. But he admitted there were times, at the beginning, when he was ambivalent.

"I loved being a cop, I loved the job, I didn’t want to leave," he said.

So he turned to prayer.

While in Mexico in July 1992, Huvane visited the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadeloupe. "I asked the Blessed Mother for a sign to help me resolve my difficulties," he said.

In early August 1992, he applied for retirement from the police department with the intention of beginning his priestly studies at the St. John Neumann Residence in Riverdale.

"After I applied to St. John Neumann, I went through a year when I lost a lot of sleep," he said. "I used to wake up in the middle of the night asking myself, ‘What am I doing?’ "

However, the veteran police officer had a small escape gap.

During his lengthy career, he had accumulated about four months of accrued leave that he could use to begin studies and, perhaps, return to the force if things didn’t work out. Then he received notice from the police benefits office that the cutoff date for his return was Dec. 8, the feast of the Immaculate Conception.

"That was my sign, and that sign has sustained me all through the process," he said. "I got a great sense of peace and happiness, which has stayed with me."

ENDNOTE: BHO44 has some record of "most transparency" NOT

2014-Nov-15

The IRS-Benghazi Congress
NOVEMBER 07, 2014
The IRS-Benghazi Congress

*** begin quote ***

In many ways, the results from this week’s elections confirm what you already know as a supporter of Judicial Watch. Voters are sick and tired of the Obama administration’s lawlessness. The new Congress has new mandate to clean up Washington and put the Obama administration (and, frankly, itself) back under the rule of law.

And all the talk of policies and campaign ads is for naught if elections can be stolen. Assuming the leftists in the Obama administration cared about what voters think, they would see their war on voter ID has little support.

Contrary to what Obama, Eric Holder and other leftist critics of voter identification requirements have said, a broad cross-section of Americans do not view the new state laws as unduly burdensome and discriminatory. In fact, a substantial majority of Americans ardently support new state laws that require voters to show some form of identification. That’s what the results of an election night survey of voters organized through The Polling Company Inc. shows. The poll, which was drawn from the responses of 806 actual 2014 voters, was released today by Judicial Watch and Breitbart.com

*** and ***

Corruption in the federal government continues to be a serious concern among voters, with 92 percent saying they consider it a serious problem and 65 percent saying they consider it “very serious.” The poll also showed that an overwhelming majority of voters do not believe that President Obama kept his 2008 promise to have the “most transparent government in history.” This one is not a close call at all, as 80 percent of respondents said the federal government has become “less transparent” or “stayed about the same” over the past six years. Within this group, 46 percent said “less transparent” and 34 percent said “stayed about the same.” Only 16 percent said the government has become “more transparent” during the Obama administration.

AND OF COURSE MY OWN PERSONAL FAVORITE

  * Birth Certificate

Note: Remember I am a “proofer”; not a “birther”.

What’s the difference?

I want a complete expose of BHO’s “credentials” and explanations of the cover ups and conspiracies around his track record. “Birth Certificate" is short hand for the related issues:

  * Why is there a discrepancy around the birth certificate?
  * Who produced the birth certificate forgery?
  * Why the discrepancies in the 2008 Presidential nominating petitions?
  * Why hasn’t the travel records of his parents been fully investigated?
  * Did Obama obtain Indonesian citizenship either involuntarily or voluntarily?
  * Where did Obama get the Social Security Number he is using?
  * Did he become a Muslim and | or an Indonesian citizen in order to get into an Indonesian school?
  * Did he get into Occidental College by claiming to be a foreign student?
  * Did he get into Columbia University by claiming to be a foreign student?
  * How is it that no one of his Columbia classmates remember him?
  * Did he get into Harvard Law School by claiming to be a foreign student?
  * Why are all of his college transcripts sealed?
  * How is it he was never arrested for drugs during his school years?

And it has NOTHING to do with him being a D or an R or a minority.

Argh!
