2013-Sep-23JNEWS: Untalan, Edward G. [MC1984] board chairman GIAAhttp://www.ww.mvguam.com/local/news/31441-giaa-elects-new-board-chairman.htmlGIAA elects new board chairman Tuesday, 24 Sep 2013 03:00am BY ALDWIN R. FAJARDO | VARIETY NEWS STAFF Edward Untalan AMID the turbulent weather that caused flashfloods and a myriad of other disruptions, including the forced diversion of nine Guam-bound flights to Saipan, Edward G. Untalan smoothly took over the chairmanship of the Guam International Airport Authority board of directors Thursday. Untalan took over from Francisco G. Santos who announced that the GIAA board meeting held Thursday, Sept. 19, was his last. It was a meeting marked by glowing financial reports and the ratification of several business contracts that exuded positive vibe effectively stamping out the day’s weather-related issues. Santos was appointed to the airport authority’s board in January 2011 and earned the confirmation of the Committee on Utilities, Transportation, Public Works and Veterans Affairs a month later. He is a retired harbor master from the Port Authority of Guam and is a prominent member of the Iglesia Ni Cristo, holding the title of head deacon. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1973. When his appointment to the board was announced in 2011, Santos said his background and experience will allow him to contribute to the airport’s mission: to preserve the safety and security of the traveling public, maintain a superior and reliable level of service and develop air service and facilities that are integral to the economy. Santos was GIAA board chairman when the airport authority faced the controversial transfer of the specialty retail concession at the A.B. Won Pat International Airport from DFS Guam to Lotte Duty Free Guam, which involved court intervention that paved the way for the South Korean company’s eventual takeover of the concession space on July 21. Best minds His successor, Untalan, was appointed to the GIAA board for a three-year term last December. In his appointment letter, Gov. Eddie Calvo told Untalan that the administration “is facing unprecedented challenges, both near and long-term. The task ahead of us will require the collective efforts of the best minds who will have the courage to make tough decisions for the good of all our people.” Untalan’s previous government appointments include the Guam Community College board of trustees and the Guam Economic Development Authority. He holds an MBA degree with concentration on finance and investments from Manhattan College in New York, and is a member of the Guam Bankers Association since 2005. He is currently an executive of First Hawaiian Bank with more than 25 years of finance and management experience in both public and private sectors, according to his appointment application. # - # - # Untalan, Edward G. 2013-Sep-28ENDNOTE: Tell the Gooferment what to do with their cheese!http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2013/09/09/usda-tells-christian-charity-to-kick-jesus-to-curb/?test=latestnewsFlorida official tells Christian charity to choose between Jesus and cheese By Todd Starnes Todd's American Dispatch Published September 09, 2013 FoxNews.com *** begin quote *** So in a spirit of Christian love and fellowship, Daly politely told the government what they could do with their cheese. “We decided to eliminate the USDA food and we’re going to trust God to provide,” she told me. “If God can multiply fish and loaves for 10,000 people, he can certainly bring in food for our food pantry so we can continue to feed the hungry.” In a nutshell, Daly said the Christian Service Center would not be compromising. *** end quote *** My grip is that they don't provide an address so I can send these folks some change. We, Sheeple, have to stand up to these tyrants. By doing "charity", we displace both the "King" and the "Cardinal", We don't need them! We should pay them. Nor should we honor them!!! And, oh, btw (by the way), it's not "theirs". They first had to steal it from some poor taxpayer! # - # - # - # - # |
