the oncology office, with no real privacy, making it difficult to
enjoy the experience of finding a new look. Since then, Sanford
Hospital has provided this room and the American Cancer Society
provided the supplies. And Cheryl is well suited for this, being a
retired nurse who knows what patients are going through.
"Being a cancer survivor, I know what it's like to walk into that
office. I know what it's like to sit there and wait for a test, to
hear those words. Those are the three most dreaded words in the
English language: you have cancer," says Cheryl Renville, Cancer
Care Resource Center.
And no one can really understand unless she's been through it
herself. Cheryl knows what it's like to go bald during treatment.
"It's traumatic. That's the first thing that they say. Am I going
to lose my hair? And even with myself, when I had chemo, I was
going to be the one that didn't. I just knew I would be the one
who did not lose my hair. Well, that didn't work, you know. You do
lose it because the drugs are so powerful. And hair is a fast
growing cell, and so it's the first one, one of the first ones
that chemo kills."

Empathy for our fellow man seems sorely lacking today.
I know people who have serious health, family, or personal issues.
Whenever I think about them, I try to think about what I was given
when my wife was sick or failing.
Maybe if we did this more, we'd all be better off.

Obituary
Dr. Walter Joseph Loehr passed away at his home on July 19, 2013. Born in 1937 to German immigrants, Johanna and Anton Loehr, Dr. Loehr was raised in Brooklyn, NY. He was predeceased by his older brother, Robert Loehr in December, 2012.
Dr. Loehr attended parochial grammar and high school, and graduated pre-med with honors in Biology at Manhattan College in New York. He was accepted at Cornell Medical School in New York City in 1959 and graduated in 1963, the same year he married Elizabeth Ann Moran.

Nancy Maksomski has asked for our prayers for her friend's Dad. Mr. Santi Giocalano is having emergency heart valve replacement surgery today, 7/27/13. The MDs found a blockage that they fear could cause a stroke and needed to be quickly addressed. Plesae pray that the surgery is successful and that Mr. Giocalano's recovery is swift and complete. Saint Mary’s 10th president, Brother Peter Clifford, dies
Clifford (SMU)
Brother Peter Clifford, FSC, the 10th president of Saint Mary’s University, died Tuesday at De La Salle Hall in Lincroft, N.J.
A dedicated educational visionary and financial steward, Brother Peter served as president of Saint Mary’s from 1976 to 1984, and is credited for bringing fiscal security to the college.
Brother Peter also fostered close relationships between Saint Mary’s and the city of Winona by being an active member of the community. During his presidency, he served on the boards of both the Winona Chamber of Commerce and Norwest Bank.
Additionally, he initiated the first graduate course offerings in the Twin Cities and laid the financial groundwork for the Performance Center and the ice arena on the Winona campus.
Brother Peter was born in the Bronx in New York City on Feb. 17, 1925. He graduated from St. Jerome’s School in the Bronx in 1939 and entered the Junior Novitiate of the Christian Brothers in Barrytown, N.Y. He entered to the Brothers Novitiate in 1943, made his first vows in 1944, and made his final vows in 1950.
Brother Peter studied history at Catholic University in Washington, D.C., received his B.A. degree in Education from Manhattan College in 1950, and an M.A. degree in History from Fordham University in 1957. In 1968, he received a CAS degree in Educational Administration from Harvard University. In 1970, he received an Ed.D. degree in Educational Administration, also from Harvard.
Brother Peter’s ministry career was varied. He taught at grammar schools, served as a missionary in the Philippines, acted as the academic dean at De La Salle College in Manila, served as an administrator at a variety of high schools, worked for the Catholic Schools office in Brooklyn, N.Y., and acted as the executive secretary for secondary schools at the National Catholic Education Association.
Brother Peter’s ministry in higher education began as an academic dean at St. John’s University in Jamaica, Queen, before coming to Saint Mary’s.
After the conclusion of his work at Saint Mary’s, Brother Peter served as Provincial of the LINE District of the Brothers of the Christian Schools for three years and for two years as an Assistant in Higher Education for the U.S. Catholic Conference in Washington, D.C. His last college connection was as President of St. Mary’s College in Leavenworth, Kan., from 1989 to 1994.
Brother Peter then became Director of Finance for the LINE District of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. He moved back to Winona in 2000 and worked as a vice president for the Metanoia Group, a consulting enterprise at Saint Mary’s University, until 2002. He then moved back to Rhode Island where he became Assistant to the President of Ocean Tides, a residential center for delinquents, until his illness this year.
A wake for Brother Peter will be held at the Christian Brothers Center in Narragansett, R.I., on Thursday, July 25, and Friday, July 26, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christian Brothers Center on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 11 a.m.
Brother William Mann, FSC, President, will represent Saint Mary’s University at the wake, Mass, and burial.
“Brother Peter will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his strong leadership and for establishing a solid financial foundation at Saint Mary’s, enabling us to significantly expand our reach and educational reputation,” Brother William said. “Those who worked alongside Brother Peter will also remember his kindness, generosity and enduring spirit. He will be missed.”

She entered the congregation in 1934 from St. Rose of Lima parish, Parkville.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in Latin from Manhattan College, the Bronx, and a master’s degree in education/psychology from Medaille College, Buffalo, N.Y.
Formerly known as Sister Mary Simplicia, she taught at Mary’s Nativity, Flushing, 1938-40 and 1954-57; St. Benedict Joseph Labre, Richmond Hill, 1940-54; St. Brendan, Midwood, 1957-59; Most Holy Trinity, East Hampton, L.I., 1959-63; and St. John of God, Central Islip, L.I., 1963-66.
She was principal both at Ascension, Elmhurst, 1966-72, and St. Patrick, Smithtown, L.I., 1972-95.
For the last 18 years, she served as assistant to the superior as part of the Pastoral Team at Maria Regina Residence.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held in Maria Regina Chapel July 8. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, Brentwood.

The Senate voted overwhelmingly Monday to confirm James Comey, a former Bush administration official, as the next director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, after Sen. Rand Paul removed a procedural hurdle to the nomination.
The vote was 93-1. Mr. Comey succeeds Robert Mueller, who has served as FBI director for 12 years, two years longer than the traditional decade.

He said that come September, Jamaica will for the first time benefit from "Lasallian" teaching with the coming of two Americans to the St Vincent Strambi High School. They are Brother Augustine Nicoletti, who is to be the new principal and Brother James Wallace, an administrator.
According to Hamilton, their coming is "timely" as the De La Salle teaching style emphasises practical or vocational areas which is a focus of the Ministry of Education.
"They emphasise skills training which is what the country needs," Hamilton said.
On a recent visit to Jamaica, Nicoletti and Wallace — who are both on secondment from the Manhattan College in New York — told the Jamaica Observer of plans to make an impact during their two-year stint.
"In any setting, you can always [make improvements]. We want to improve the spiritual dimension of the faith community, include some theatre, drama down the road, more opportunities for vocational education; we want to infuse life skills. We want to really teach their (children's) minds and touch their hearts," Nicoletti said.
Wallace said that the "aim is to get all students to do well".
In doing his research, Nicoletti said that he discovered that Catholics are only about three per cent of the Jamaican population. However, he is undeterred.
"I don't base my life on statistics. [Our work looks beyond] nationality, culture, race," he said.
The two elderly men said that the commitment that they have to the work that they do will ensure that they do it for as long as they can.
"We love what we do despite tough days," Nicoletti said.
He said that one of the main tenets of being a Brother is that they live in a community with other Brothers.
During their stay in Jamaica they will live on the school's compound, which Nicoletti said will enable them to be available to the students all the time even outside of regular school hours. Their reimbursement will be a stipend from the church, Hamilton said.
Hamilton in his report at the school's recent graduation outlined developments at the institution that the De La Salle Christian Brothers can build on.

Matthew J. Christopher died peacefully in his home, Sunday, July 21, 2013.
He is survived by his parents, Donald and Marie Christopher; brothers, Daniel and Michael and his wife, Arianna; grandparents, William and Charlotte Robert; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Matthew was a 1996 graduate of Council Rock High School, and a 2000 graduate of Manhattan College.
He was currently employed by U.B.S. in Weehawken, N.J.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial mass 5:30 p.m. Friday, at the Chapel of St. Vincent DePaul in Northampton, Pa. There will be a reception following at Homewoods Suites in Newtown.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kiva Microfunds, a charity that Matthew supported.

Hi John:1. According to the obituary, I believe Dr. Loehr graduated in 1959 the year he entered Cornell Medical School.
2. My book La Salle Military Academy (LSMA) Pro Deo Pro Patria: The Life and Death of a Catholic Military School chronicles its history from its beginning in 1883 to its closure in 2001.
The attachment contains a description, Table of Contents, a copy of the cover and how to purchase it through The LSMA Alumni Association Foundation. LSMA was a feeder school for Manhattan, so some of your readers may be interested in it. It has gotten rave reviews from the alumni from the 1940s on.

Maryknoll, NY-Sister Catherine Margaret Carden, MM, a catechetical trainer, local ESL program founder, and missioner serving in Peru, Mexico, Colombia, Hawaii, and New York, died July 25, 2013, at Maryknoll Sisters Residential Care IV. She was 93 years old and had been a Maryknoll Sister for 73 years.
Born on March 27, 1920, in Carbondale, PA, to Marcus A. and Gertrude Corrigan Carden, Sister Catherine entered Maryknoll from St. John’s Parish, New York, NY, on December 8, 1939. A 1938 graduate of Cathedral High School, New York, NY, Sister Catherine also received a diploma in secretarial studies from Grace Institute, New York, NY, in 1939, prior to entering the congregation at their Motherhouse in Ossining, NY. She then went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in education from Maryknoll Teachers College in 1960, and an M.A. in Theology from Manhattan College, New York, NY, in 1970.

I have been trying to get this out to you and this morning my daughter-In-Law, Melissa, got it done for me. It is my favorite picture of our Littlest Jasper, Lukie. It was sent to me by his Mom and it says so much. That smile that lights up a room, his shades which he is obviously very proud of and are very much today and that fighting spirit that this little fellow possesses and always shines through. I am so happy to be able to finally share it with you. Thank you Heidi and Peter. This picture was taken at his Grand Parents 50th Wedding Anniversary which was a beautiful and fun filled occasion. I don't know if this qualifies as appropriate material for your Jasper Jottings. A few days ago my son, an alumnus, told us about your website. We checked it this evening and Joe Ripp's name appeared. I wonder if he was a student of mine way back in the 1970's. I recall a student named Joseph Ripp as one of my psychology majors. I was a faculty member in the Psychology Department from the 1960's to 1992 when I retired. I am just curious and struck by the coincidence.I plan to subscribe to Jasper Jottings as a stimulus for my rapidly shattering memory.

DeROSA--Dr. Gerard, died in Malba, NY on July 30 at age 94. Beloved husband of Rose (deceased), father of Patrick, Rosemary Hays and Denise. Leaving four grandchildren (Jerry, Laurie, Matt, Julie), three great-grandchildren and sister Angela Fiordalisi. Jerry was born in Italy, graduated Manhattan College and Marquette University School of Dentistry. He was a US Naval officer during WWII and later practiced dentistry in Astoria, NY. Services are at Gleason Funeral Home, Whitestone and Mass is at Holy Trinity RC Church, Whitestone, NY on August 2, at 10:45am. Donations can be made to (alzfdn.org) or (www.holytrinityrcparish.org).

He was currently a resident of Margate City, N.J. The son of John & Gladys Moran was born, in 1925, raised and worked in the Riverdale community of the Bronx in N.Y.C. He was a graduate of Columbia University, class of 1948, he also attended Manhattan College Preparatory School and St. Margaret's Catholic School in North Riverdale.
One of the founding families of St. Gabriel's Church where he was a devout parishioner and supporter until his semi-retirement and move to Southern New Jersey in 2003. He was self employ-ed as a real estate broker working with his father in the firm of John A. Moran and Son primarily in the Riverdale/Kingsbridge communities from 1953 till the time of his passing. He was a devoted Riverdalian with a great love of the neighborhood where he grew up and raised his family. He was very active in support of the growth of Riverdale in many ways both professionally and personally. John and his father sold a large percentage of the land in Riverdale for apartment house sites. He brokered the sale of the Riverdale property to the Russian Mission in 1972.
He had a tremendous love of sports which was not only evident in conversation with him but in his actions also. He was with the North Riverdale Baseball League for over 25 years both on the Executive Board and as a team manager shaping the lives of many of Riverdale's youth for the future. Even though he contracted Polio as a young child and developed Post Polio Syndrome at a later age he never let it deter him from participating in anything he wanted to do. He dedicated his efforts in Riverdale to assure that families could raise their children in a community that was safe with manageable growth and he served with many organizations to accomplish this.
He was a member of the Community Planning board for 12 years and served on the Land Use Committee. He was on the Board of Directors and Past President of the Riverdale Neighborhood House, Francis Schervier Home & Hospital, Schervier Nursing Care Center Housing Board. He was also a board member of the Riverdale Community Council, the 50th Precinct Community Council and the Kingsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps. In 1972 he was awarded Riverdale Community Council "Man of the Year" and the Francis Schervier Award in 2002.
He was a very personable man and loved to talk with people and could talk about any topic with ease for hours, especially about sports. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Mary (Betsy), his daughter Shelley, his sons and their wives John & Karen, Richard & Elizabeth, Christopher & Amy, 7 grand children and his sister Mary Patricia Baxter.
There will be a private funeral service in New York. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his memory to the Autism Speaks Foundation, 1 E. 33rd St., New York, NY 10016, in honor of his grandson, Tommy who was diagnosed in 2004.

Dr. Kris Bungay is a board-certified internist who has been in private practice for general internal medicine since 2003. Although he sees a wide-range of medical conditions, he specializes on HIV medicine and LGBT health.
He was born and raised in Manila, Philippines but moved to the US at a young age. After finishing high school in Nevada, he moved to NYC to attend Manhattan College for his undergraduate studies. He obtained his medical degree at SUNY-Brooklyn in 1999.
He accomplished his residency program (Primary Care/Internal Medicine) at the former St. Vincent’s Hospital in Manhattan and served an additional year as chief resident of the internal medicine residency program. Besides his full-time private practice, he also serves as a board member and chair of Clinical Care Committee of Callen-Lorde Community Health Center.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Looks like Rose Marino is following in the footsteps of famous folks with names like George Burns, Rose Kennedy, Bob and Dolores Hope, and Elizabeth the "Queen Mum," just to mention a few.
Let it be noted that the former Rose Navarino officially made her debut into the world on Dec. 29, 1913, making her six months' shy of her 100th birthday. And word has reached this desk that family members and friends traveled to San Rafael, Calif., June 29 to commemorate Rose's milestone.

For a number of years the "birthday girl" worked in the laundry of the former Staten Island Hospital in Tompkinsville so that her sons, Frank and John, could attend Manhattan College.
However, in 1993, Rose chose to relocate to San Rafael, where she's been a popular and beloved resident of Nazareth House — and where copies of the Advance appear so that she can keep abreast of the myriad events on her beloved Island.
Known to all for her quick wit and infectious laughter, the illustrious senior travels the corridors with the assistance of a walker, which carries a sign that reads: "Native Staten Islander ... Out of my way!"

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The 2013 Manhattan College Baseball Fall Prospect Camp will take place on Saturday, September 14 at Gaelic Park at West 240th Street and Broadway. Registration begins at 3:30 p.m.
Designed for high school players who are interested in playing college baseball, the camp provides high school players the opportunity to receive professional instruction while showcasing their abilities directly to the Manhattan Baseball coaching staff.
Players should wear proper baseball attire (baseball pants, shirt, belt and hat) and need a glove, bat and spikes. Catchers should bring their own catchers equipment.
Pitchers should expect to be instructed on mechanics, delivery, pickoffs, mound presence and be prepared to throw one inning or five batters. Position players should prepare to sprint, do position specific drill work, take infield/outfield, batting practice and face live pitching.

Jim Smith asks for our prayers for fellow Jasper, Richard Edward Agnew (Rick) '60 BS who died several weeks ago of Pancreatic Cancer. Yesterday, Tuesday, 7/30/13, Msgr. Peter Finn '60, assisted by, Fr. Erwin Schweigardt '61, celebrated Rick's life at a Funeral Mass in Stamford, Ct. Jim and Kathleen Smith attended as did many of Rick's Golf Buddies from Florida and Vermont. Please keep Rick in your prayers as we pray for the repose of his soul as he enters the Kingdom Of Heaven. Please keep in your prayers Rick's Wife, Dolores, and their two Daughters Kathryn and Elizabeth that they may find comfort in Rick's passing into eternal life in God's Embrace. Thank you. God Bless.

Obituary
Richard "Rick" E. Agnew died July 14, 2013, at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart. He lived in Palm City for 13 years. After graduation, he entered the insurance business as a property and casualty underwriter for the Insurance Company of North America in New York City. Seven years later, he switched to the agency side in Long Island for 12 years, and then accepted an offer of partnership in a Greenwich, Conn., firm, where he became sole owner in 1988. He served as president of the Insurance Board of Greenwich. In 1981 he joined Burning Tree Country Club in Greenwich and held the chairs of greens, admissions, administration and president. He was a board member of the Westchester Senior Golf Association and a member of Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club in Palm City, where he served on the board of directors as chairman of golf and greens, and was a past president of Mariner Village. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Dolores; daughters, Kate Sullivan and Beth Rosenblum; brothers, Donald and Jeffrey Agnew; sister, Suzanne Steele; and four granddaughters. Services: A Mass will be celebrated at the Basilica of St. John in Stamford, Conn., at a later date. Arrangements are by Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory in Stuart. Construction Industry Golf Recap
More than 125 golfers braved the summer heat and afternoon thunderstorms to participate in the 16th annual Construction Industry Golf Outing on July 22. The outing was held at Leewood Golf Club in Eastchester and included a welcome brunch, cocktail and dinner reception and numerous awards and raffle prizes.

34th Annual America's Cup Sailboat Race

San Francisco area Jaspers are invited to watch two of the final races of America's Cup! Admission to the Marina Green is free, and there is no charge to watch the races while standing. For those who prefer not to stand, a number of tickets are available for the west grandstand on the Marina Green. Tickets are $75 each and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Tickets are expected to sell out long before race day, so don't miss this great opportunity to watch the races.

One of the College's most beloved personalities, Br. Robert Berger, associate professor of religious studies, will be this year's featured speaker. Many of you fondly remember Br. Robert as a friend or adviser from your cherished days at Manhattan.

LINDSAY
Norman L., 87, of Hawthorne passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2013.
Born and raised in New York City, he resided in Maywood before moving to Hawthorne two years ago. A Columbia University graduate with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, he went on to earn a master's degree in sanitary engineering from NYU.
A proud Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of V.F.W. Post 7408 of Maywood. An active and involved member of his community, he was a Councilman with the Borough of Maywood and served on the Planning Board and was also a member of several Bridge clubs including one in Hillsdale. Mr. Lindsay was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Hackensack. Norman enjoyed theater and travel especially cruises.
Prior to retiring, he was a professional engineer with Riddick Associates, PC in Suffern, NY, where he was employed for sixty years since the company's inception in 1948.
Beloved husband of Catherine (Craig) Lindsay. Loving and devoted father of Dennis Lindsay and wife Kathleen, Kathleen Galatro and husband Garry and Elizabeth Galatro and husband Richard. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer, Kristen, Bryan, Nicole, Katelyn, Graham and Tori. Adored great-grandfather of nine. Dear brother of Donald Lindsay and the late Bruce Lindsay and Carol Fazio.
A funeral service is planned for Friday, June 28, 2013, 10 AM at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ, 201-797-3500. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.

Martin H. Schmidt, Jr.
AGE: 85 • Montville
Martin H. Schmidt, Jr., of Montville, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home on Lake Valhalla, Monday, July 29, 2013. He was 85 years old.
Born in Bronx, NY, Martin married the late Barbara (Siver) in 1954 and moved to Lake Valhalla in 1958 where they raised four children. A native New Yorker, Martin received a BA from Manhattan College in 1951 and also studied at the US Merchant Marine Academy, Columbia Graduate School of Industrial Engineering and New York University Graduate School of Business.
Mr. Schmidt's storied career began with management positions at International Projector Corp, Schering Plough and Arthur Anderson. He joined Squibb Corporation in 1965 as Director Physical Distribution and Inventory Control, with succeeding assignments as VP Management Information; VP Administration; President, Squibb Pacific & Italy; simultaneously President & CEO of Charles of the Ritz and Life Savers; Group VP of Squibb Corporation; Senior Consultant to the office of the Chairman; President of Convatec Division; Chancellor of Squibb College. Mr. Schmidt was elected to the Board of Directors of Squibb Corporation in 1977 and served until 1984. Martin retired from Squibb Corporation in 1989.
Passionate about giving back to his community, Martin served numerous organizations; the Knights of Columbus (58 yrs), Board of Trustees Manhattan College (15yrs, 5 as Chairman), Easter Seals, March of Dimes, and Montville Preservation Society. He founded the charitable BJ Foundation in 1986 providing opportunities to underprivileged children.
Martin was predeceased by his wife, Barbara in 2006. Surviving are his children, Stephen P. of Montville, Gregory M. of Montville, Barbara A. Green of NY, NY and Terence W. of Palm City, FL; sister, Ann Marie Donegan; 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at St. Pius X R.C. Church, Montville, NJ Friday, August 9th at 10:30 AM, with reception following at the Lake Valhalla Club. Arrangements are in care of the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, Boonton, NJ. To share a memory or extend condolences, please visit www.codeymackeyfh.com. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the BJ Foundation, 15 Lenape Dr., Montville, NJ 07045.

Dear John,
Marty was a great baseball player in his day. I remember his father acting as his catcher as he worked out in Van Cortland Park. He was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School . When the Schmidt's moved out of our upstairs apartment, Marty left his bike behind, I still have it!
His sister Ann Marie was a classmate of mine at St Barnabas and she married another classmate, Ed Donegan who is a member of the Class of 1954 at Manhattan.
May He Rest In Peace.

Brother Peter Clifford, F.S.C., a former member of the faculty at Bishop Loughlin M.H.S., Fort Greene, died Tuesday, July 23 at De La Salle Hall in Lincroft, N.J. He was 88.
Born in the Bronx, he entered the Christian Brothers in Barrytown, N.Y., in 1943. He made his first vows in 1944 and his final vows in 1950.
He studied history at Catholic University in Washington, D.C.; education at Manhattan College; and history at Fordham University. In 1968, he received a C.A.S. degree in educational administration from Harvard University. In 1970, he received an Ed.D. in educational administration, also from Harvard.
After several teaching assignments in Manhattan, he served as principal at St. Cecilia School, Greenpoint, 1951-54. He then spent five years as a missionary in the Philippines, as the academic dean of De La Salle College in Manila.
Returning to the U.S., he worked as a teacher and administrator at St. Augustine D.H.S., Park Slope, and Bishop Loughlin M.H.S., from 1962 to 1965.
He also worked for the Diocesan Catholic Schools Office in Brooklyn, from 1968 to 1971, and as the executive secretary for secondary schools at the National Catholic Education Association in Washington, D.C., from 1971 to 1974.
Brother Peter began his ministry to higher education as academic dean at St. John’s University, Jamaica, from 1974 to 1976.
He also served for two years as an assistant in higher education for the U.S. Catholic Conference in Washington, D.C. His last college connection was as president of St. Mary’s College in Leavenworth, Kan., 1989-94.

The only possible LEGITIMATE functions of government is to protect The People from force. Fraud is a form of force. Theft by deception.
This particular fraud makes us a cynical nation about private charity.
