ALL BOILER PLATE is at the end.

With the free “listbot” software going “pay”, I have shifted to something else “free”. The details are that I will be running it from my private email. No effort is required on your part. What we lose is the one-year archive. I will attempt to keep up with adds, changes, and moves. We average about five bounces per week (i.e., returned email) of which one out of ten appears to be a temporary failure. I will continue to send out a “warning message” about bouncing. Unlike the listbot, which kicks the address off on the first bounce, I’ll try waiting for the second. Your cooperation is requested in including your class year and major in your emails and announcements.

Signing off for this week.

It’s entertaining that the Edison mayor and his developer friend now swear that everything will work out for everyone. Sure. Just move the spotlight away and let the roaches run the place. Anyone, who thinks there is any real difference between the major parties, must be bemused by what is going on in Washington. Republican McCain tries to take away free speech, the Democrats are pushing the Trial Lawyer’s agenda, and Bush increases funding to the Department of Education. Doesn’t any one see the paradoxes?

Reflect well on our alma mater, this week, every week, in any and every way possible, large or small. God bless.

"Collector-in-chief" John

Seaview Jeep's Mars Mellish earned his diploma from Manhattan College in May as a finance major with a minor in chemistry. But he's hoping his college playing days aren't over quite yet.

Mellish, who played three years at Manhattan, struggled to fit in under current Jaspers coach Bobby Gonzalez's new system, after playing under former Manhattan coach John Leonard.

Manhattan let him keep his scholarship, and Mellish earned his degree. But the 22-year-old still has a year of eligibility left, and is hoping to use it at a Division II program.

"Right now," Mellish said, "I'm looking for something to come up. I don't think anybody knows about me. But I'm really looking."

Mellish looked sharp last Tuesday night. He dropped 32 points in his team's loss to RKE Athletic.

John --

I read with interest Rich Ferrara's message about the wedding he recently attended. Although I do not know Mike Durdovic, I do know Rich, having grown up in the same apartment building in the Bronx (3065 Grand Concourse). Rich's family lived on the first floor, mine on the fourth (closer to the noise from the elevated subway and four flights of stairs as the elevator rarely worked -- or was trusted).  Rich's mom was famous (in my mind) for introducing me to some sort of coffee/cream creation at the tender age of 11, long before I would have been allowed such an adult beverage by my parents. Whatever it was she served on the occasional cold winter morning before Rich and I headed off to school (1/2 block away) would give Starbuck's competitive shivers. Hope she is doing well.

Hi,

I considered them when I chose "listbot". They still have the claim that I didn't like.

“By transmitting Content through Topica for distribution to your Topica List, you grant Topica a world-wide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, modify, adapt and publish the Content solely for the purpose of providing Topica's hosting, archiving, subscription, and promotion services.”

I didn't want any such verbiage. Also, they have language about "copyrights" and we are relying upon "fair use". I didn't want any hassles. I also don't want to expose the email addresses more than necessary.

Thanks for looking out for me.

John
